I've done the rhubarb sauce with strawberries from the garden. So yum! Just chucked them in whole. It was absolutely delicious!

nice I've never thought to have them alone before we usually add a few strawberries but then we don't make a sauce we make jam :) great share sir thank you :)

Is there a reason to why you are cutting the rhubarbs off the plant instead of pulling them? I read somewhere that leaving bits of the rhubarb stalks on the root can cause the root to rot. I just wriggle the stalks lose when I pick them and they come right off at the base! :)

I've never had rhubarb before. It doesn't grow in Trinidad. Would love to taste it . Can you describe the taste for me ? I try to stay away from processed sugar. Is there any way I can make this with out sugar ?

If you can get hold of any, rhubarb goes really well with ginger. Apple also. Stewed to make a sauce/jam, with or without pectin. This could be with crystallised ginger if you can tolerate sugar, or if you don't like me, grated fresh ginger root with a natural sweetener works too. I use a Stevia/erythritol mix.

Rhubarbs are very sour when eaten raw, with a hint of a fruity flavor. It's quite unique - I can't really think of anything to compare it to other than "rhubarb". :)
