I don't have HIV/Aids. But I have always been drawn to learning thing's I don't understand. Where I live we don't hear of this disease very often and listening to Karen's story breaks my heart! She is so incredibly beautiful and innocent.. I wish I could just give her a huge hug and be a friend to her. Karen, if you see this, I love you and am very sorry this happened to you. And thank you for your hard work teaching our children the right way.

So she was symptom free for 18 years. You can't get a more powerful message than that. Yes I know it's a bit scary, but get tested, if you've ever had unprotected sex. It really is better to know these days. If it's caught early enough and you take the medication you'll live as long as anyone who doesn't have HIV. I did an at home test recently and although I was nervous, I was so relieved to find it was negative. Just be aware of the window period of 90 days, during which time an early infection won't show on a test.

I have HIV , had it for about 6 years now , and been put on triumeq , Its the most expensive antiretroviral there is , Its $3000 for a month, However, I live in the UK and HIV treatment is free here . After being on this drug for just 4 weeks , I Was undetectable and stayed that way for years now , and there is hardly any side effects. The UK has its many issues, but thank god for the NHS (National Health service) Which gives free treatment regardless of your status or financial situation it treats everyone as equal. Thats why some many Immigrant and Illigal Immigrants come to this country to abuse the health system as its the best in the world. Lucky the UK government is cracking down on it
@emilybarrett464
Жыл бұрын
Yet most of the docs treating you are probably immigrants. These ‘illegal immigrants’ you speak of mostly asylum seekers. Theres a difference. Imagine people said that you weren’t entitled to free NHS treatment because you took risks and contracted HIV… wouldn’t seem fair, would it? I wish you well, but jeez your opinion is warped

So she took an HIV test 14 days/ 2 weeks after unprotected sex in 1988 (probably 1st or 2nd Generation HIV test) and it was a "false negative". If there was a 4th Generation HIV 1/2 in 1988 that 4th gen. rest along with an HIV1 RNA test, she would have been properly diagnosed. The RNA test can detect early infection in 1-2 weeks. The HIV 4th Generation can detect the virus in 30 days. I hope she is doing ok.
