I've been a Dawg fan my entire life. I also have three degrees from UGA. Isaiah Crowell is probably one of my least favorite players in UGA history. I never understood his hype. He had mediocre numbers at best and consistently made poor decisions off the field. We were able to get Todd Gurley and Keith Marshall the following year. I'm quite content with how those two turned out. Had Crowell not made so many stupid decisions and stayed at UGA, I have no idea how recruiting would have turned out with those two. Stats for some UGA RBs from their Freshman Years Crowell: 185 Attempts for 850 yards (4.6 Y/A) and 5 TDs. 8 Receptions for 59 yards and 1 TD. Chubb: 219 Attempts for 1,547 yards (7.1 Y/A) and 14 TDs. 18 Receptions for 213 yards and 2 TDs. Gurley: 222 Attempts for 1,385 yards (6.2 Y/A) and 17 TDs. 16 Receptions for 117 yards. 1 KR TD. Keith Marshall: 117 Attempts for 759 yards (6.5 Y/A) and 8 TDs. 11 Receptions for 91 yards and 1 TD. Sony Michel: 64 Attempts for 410 yards (6.4 Y/A) and 5 TDs. 7 Receptions for 106 yards and 1 TD. Knowshon Moreno: 248 Attempts for 1,334 yards (5.4 Y/A) and 14 TDs. 20 Receptions for 253 yards. D'Andre Swift: 81 Attempts for 618 yards (7.6 Y/A) and 3 TDs. 17 Receptions for 153 yards and 1 TD. Crowell was the feature back in 2011. He was sharing carries with Carlton Thomas and Richard Samuel. Names most UGA fans don't even remember. And he struggled to do much with it. Gurley and Marshall came in the immediate year after. Their numbers are far better, and the OL was not that different. Comparing Crowell to the other guys I mentioned just shows how much of a bust he was for us. TL;DR: Lifelong Dawg. Crowell was garbage on the field and off the field. I'm glad we only had to deal with him for one year.

One of best things to happen to UGA when he left. Had he not left we wouldn’t have gotten Todd Gurley the following year. Originally, we were only taking one running back which was Keith Marshall. When Crowell got dismissed we had to take two. That 2nd one was for Todd Gurley who was a much better player.

Couldn’t get out of his own way. He would’ve done great at Georgia probably would’ve had his name throughout the record books, but in the NFL I think he lacked the elite attributes to be a star back, would’ve been a hell of a backup option/occasional starter but all the off the field stuff made him not worth the trouble.

I grew up about 30 minutes from Crowell and remember going to high school games and watching him. We knew he was great but we also knew his attitude would cost him. In a playoff game against Calhoun; Crowell almost got into a fight with some of his schools own fans. He climbed up on the fence and started yelling and cussing the fans until his coach pulled him down. He also almost got into a fight with his own O line that same game.
