Garrus being in the middle of calibrations became a huge meme for this game. There are some hilarious references to it in ME3

Don't worry about talking to Liara. It will not start the DLC. You are in full control when the DLC starts, and Liara has some things you can help her with on Ilium.

The conversation triggers are numerous in ME2 and ME3 so keep checking them after all primary missions. That said, in ME2 once someone gives you their loyalty mission, they will have nothing new for you until its completion. Only Arrival is really best to do after the end. The other DLCs you can do at any point. Shadow Broker is actually a good thing to do early. It's arguably better than doing it later. Well, after you discuss with Liara everything else she might want. The issue between Cerberus and the quarians is explored in one of the 3 Drew Karpyshyn novels. They are actually a very good read and great complements for the games.

Chris: Remember to check EVERY planet in EVERY system, not just the ones that have mass relays. Remember, that's why you have fuel... so you can travel to systems that don't have relays. There are a total of 15 "N7 Missions" that you will not find any other way. When you orbit a planet that has one of the N7 missions, EDI will tell you "Anomaly found". Then you have to probe the anomaly to be able to start the mission.

Make sure to check every planet in every system, some have hidden missions which you won't know about unless you enter orbit. EDI will let you know about detected anomalies, at which point you'll need to scan and find where the anomaly is and drop a probe to be able to land. Remember to not make any purchase at any store until you get the discount, ok? You CAN confront Liara, even talk about the Shadow Broker, just don't choose the "Let's get the Shadow Broker" line of dialogue until you have finished some of her minor assignments on Illium.

You _can_ talk to Liara. Just don't pick the "Let's go to the Shadow Broker" (or something similar) dialogue option. Other than that dialogue option, you are free to explore every dialogue with her without triggering the DLC. *ME1* Funny thing, the female Krogan warlord _Shiagur_ that Grunt mentions, she has been named in one of the planet descriptions in ME1, so you may have visited Canrum before. It's a nice reference to add to the world building aspect of it all and at the same time it's a nice throwback for replayability when you explore ME1 and see that planet. *Cerberus & Quarians* In the novel Cerberus was trying to 'recruit' (aka kidnap/rescue, depending on the perspective) a human girl who showed a lot of potential in biotics. Kind of like Jack and Miranda, although they have different experiences. *DLCs* The thing with DLCs is that on a _replay_ you can do them in whatever order you like to see if they make a difference. For a first playthrough they do kind of fit in a particular spot in the chronological storyline, but it also matters in terms of difficulty. I forgot to mention that last part before. You should be able to attempt _Firewalker_ and _Overlord_ at this point though. In terms of difficulty you've leveled enough for those. People jumping into _Overlord_ from the start will likely have a similar experience to your _Alien: Isolation_ playthrough, where sometimes you have to replay a part for 10 to 15 times because it's too difficult in terms of combat. That can be particularly frustrating. It's mostly _Arrival_ and _Lair of the Shadow Broker_ that require a disclaimer. ME3 also has one similar DLC that needs a particular disclaimer, so please don't hold it against us when we all yell that at some point during ME3. We're not trying to backseat, we're trying to make sure you can enjoy the game to the fullest. But honestly, games shouldn't need such a disclaimer, really. *N7 missions* The N7 missions are 'normal' side quests. The quest you got from Aria is the "Eclipse Smuggling Depot" mission. *AI Hacking* You and Tali can each hack _different_ enemies at the same time though. The problem is that sometimes they see each other as enemies, so that can backfire somewhat. *Advertisement* The advertisement pillar at 48:08 is the only one on the Citadel you haven't listened to. It's also the one that's the most memorable out of all of them to many people, so if you're curious, keep it in mind :) *Upgrades* Wasn't there one more weapon upgrade on Omega? Back then you didn't have much money, so you weren't able to buy all of them. It's similar to the Citadel where you had to return now to be able to buy the other upgrades from the stores. *Illium description* Keep in mind that Asari easily live 1,000 years, often longer. That's why Asari are sometimes employed for long-term research, since they keep it going as they outlive other researchers during the research period. You can see this with Liara, as she's specialized in Protheans. She can take her time in doing research while humans have probably died of old age by the time she's finally getting results. *Slavery* To be fair, how does it work if you have a high debt in our countries? Here in The Netherlands you can still have a job, but the government will tax the hell out of you to make you pay off your debt to the state. In that sense it's not as different as slavery, except that they leave you enough to warrant to make a living, albeit very restricted. I think in the US the government simply takes away your house and your car, without any regards of your needs. In comparison to how we treat our people, the 'indentured servants' actually seem better off than how we treat people with debt. *Shops* Well, to be fair ... you want the stuff from Omega, Citadel _and_ Illium, because they're all different upgrades, so you just have to accumulate more money to buy it all ;) And um, yes, that means mining to be able to research those upgrades. *Rachni* Don't you just _love_ the throwback to the Rachni here, when you least expect it? This is one of the first 'dangerous' decisions you've made in ME1 (aside of killing the Council) that could have had serious consequences. What the Asari tells you isn't actually _new_ though. The Queen has told you this before (in her own cryptic way, with sour notes and all), but at that time you didn't even know of the existence of the Reapers and the concept of indoctrination was still very new information. So now that the same information is conveyed through this Asari, it makes a whole lot more sense. For you as the player it _clicks_ at this point.

In ME1 when you spoke with the Queen on Noveria she spoke about the yellow sour note who silenced the voices of her race. It's something nobody pays much attention to at the time, I thought she was talking about them being killed but after hearing the Asari deliver the message from the Queen on Illium we see there was a whole other meaning behind that phrasing.
