Those birds (Sandhill Cranes) have been around here for a few years now. We have watched them raise two birds last year and one bird this year. Interesting that they wander around and guard their young for maybe six months or more -until their offspring are young adults.

I was wondering, what is the name of your aftermarket peg kit? They look like they have been relocated and how much more comfortable does it make the bike? My 1000S is a real wrist killer
@UmustBk1dd1ng
3 жыл бұрын
The foot pegs are stock. In fact, the entire bike is bone stock except for the Termi's that the original owner installed, the Ducati Performance ECU that came with the Termi's, and the tidy tail that I put on. These bikes really stretch the rider out over the tank, and so they are beautiful to look at but horrendously uncomfortable to ride. That may be part of the reason that they didn't sell well back in 2006-2010 (and so are a bit rare now days). A lot of these bikes have had aftermarket raised clip-ons installed, but I appreciate the uncompromising approach. For sure you won't spend more than a couple of hours on the back roads on one of these bikes, and probably less than an hour around town.
@Ckperes

@@UmustBk1dd1ng yea around town is truthfully horrible, maybe to a car/bike show and back but that’s all, the seating positions makes it difficult to maneuver at slow speeds but as much as this bike is beautiful to look at, I wanna ride it for extended periods!

If you think Ducatis don't "turn" get rid of those shitty tires! My first Duc was a 750 'round case and I own a Sport Classic, a F1 and a Pantah and I can tell ya, Ducatis TURN!
@UmustBk1dd1ng

Sounds like you have a nice collection of bikes. The shitty tires are actually new. The originals were 11 years old, and I replaced them with same spec tires to try and keep the bike as original as possible. I have so have ultra sticky SuperCorsa II's on my 848evo.
@bert4741

I agree with Richard! Ditch those squishy Phantoms, by upgrading to a Pirelli Diablo Corsa or similar you’ll see 30% better handling and feel! Those original tires look cool but don’t offer any confidence. You’re best upgrade for the buck is the tire, also those Termis help! It was the biggest help for my Sportclassic, but now I must exercise my Imola Bevel and Laguna Seca!

@@bert4741 Thank you for the comments. When I was saying that Ducati's don't turn, I was talking in general terms and as related to something like an inline four where there is more weight over the front wheels. I do know that the Phantoms on my 1000s are not anywhere near as good as some of the top sport tires. I bought them because I was trying to preserve the Retro look, and I don't ride this particular bike very aggressively. (I have Super Corsa IIs on my 848 evo because I do want maximum grip on that bike.) If you watch MotoGP and WorldSBK you will know that Ducati (and all of the V4 engine bikes) are alwasy working hard to improve their bike's ability to turn in the corners. The inline four bikes like the Suzuki's and the Yamaha's have a better ability to turn and be faster in a corner (better edge grip), whereas the V four engine bikes (and previously the Ducati L twin) have always struggled with edge grip but they make more horsepower and are faster on the straights. 🙂

@@UmustBk1dd1ng And surprisingly that one too was L4. It was such a weird engine. 100hp at the time out of the air cooled V4 was unbelievable. I read that the reason they scrapped it was because it was too powerful. On the topic of motogp, Ducati can turn no problems, up until 2007 it had no turning problems because they could get the right tyres that worked for them. Since 2008, Ducati had to ride on tyres that made to work for Japanese bikes. The carbon chassis was an unbelievable bike, but they were never allowed by the Japanese manufacturers to get the tyres that worked for it and they eventually scrapped it. With the right tyres made for it, nothing cam touch Ducati's motogp machine. They even reduced the rev limit to take away from Ducati their desmo advantage.

What's the point of a L twin now there liquid cooled? It's just unnecessary complex when you can get the same sound from a cross plane parallel twin.
@UmustBk1dd1ng
Жыл бұрын
I agree that water cooling can make some of these earlier innovations unnecessary in terms of the need to cool a rear cylinder. However, an air cooled motor is still much lighter and simpler than a water cooled engine. No need for a radiator, water jackets, a water pump, hoses, water seals, an overflow tank, and coolant. The engine in the Sport 1000S in the video is actual a fairly simple motor. Also, wether air cooled or water cooled, the 90 degree V is still a very valid configuration in a 2 cylinder or a 4 cylinder configuration. Referring again to MotoGP, it appears that the V configuration offers more horsepower potential than does a comparably sized inline engine, though possibly with inferior mid corner turning ability as I mentioned in the video. I’m not saying that this old design is necessarily superior, but there are still advantages (and disadvantages) to it.
