Hypomobile joints give the sensation of feeling stiff. That's the whole point of joint mobilizations is to snap adhesions within the joint to improve range of motion. I do think this player would benefit greatly from PT and there is probably deeper issues causing the stiffness

I'm not very all knowing of the subject but your lower back can be effected by an adjustment on the upper back and also that back adjustment is very popular amongst chiropractics so I'd assume it's probably just a good thing to do while your there.

You don't needs surgery. You go to a doctor and get prescribed physical therapy. You work for the once a week for 2-8 weeks depending on the number and severity of issues. Then using the stretching and strength exercises. You should never need to go back unless you injure yourself again. Chiropractors don't work just like teeth don't stay straight if you don't wear a retainer.

@@Sweaty_Memeryou have to follow up atleast once a week with Chiro for sometimes up to a year with certain problems. The best way to fix back problems is to keep your back as straight at as you can while doing physical activity, wear a lumbar/back brace and stretch atleast 4 times a day to keep your muscles loose and from spasming up. Physical therapy also helps a lot.
