@@davidplubell1869 nope, any guitarist can use a marshall and none will sound like Malcolm. Besides you'd be surprised how many guitarists findit so hard to hold back and stick to the rhythm, too many can't, they just want to let rip into a solo.

thats a perfect lesson to rhythm guitarists how to play presence... nice mellow but hard rockin, just chillin while angus works the crowd... and builds it up to full fuckin steam as angus starts to let loose. Mal lived, breathed, rocked and bled rhythm.... he was so beloved by the guitar community, that the "top 100 guitarists of all time" voters demanded he be included on the voting list of already full 100 guitarists... he ended up 40 something on a top 100 list he was not even nominated on. His favourite ac/dc album is powerage, and once you listen to it, you'll understand why.

This is really a showcase in control of the instrument. It may sound simple but his touch is really terrific. He plays hard but yet there are subtleties in his playing that are his and his alone. He knew just exactly how to hit it hard but keep it controlled God Bless Malcolm Young

One of the (admittedly many) greatest monster riffs ever. How that guitar is not howling its brains out from feedback in front of a wall of Marshalls 🤘 Malcolm Young was metronomic and knew how to modulate his volume and attack on the guitar, to brilliant effect. And he had great technique, L & R.

Malcolm had a feel that very few players these days can replicate, but a couple of things help: 1) Heavy strings. Malcolm played 12s with a wound G. This allowed him to get a lot of dynamics without going out of tune. 2) Ease back on the gain. His gain was perfect for his playing because it only broke up when he hit it hard. Then as the chords rang out, it got cleaner. Rhythm guitar sounds better without a lot of overdrive.

I think Mal used at least MB cabs for sure at least at donnington - not sure about the amp. There are like a million threads on different forums regarding Mals amps. Some say he used super lead 100s, theres mention of wizard amps etc. No matter what amp he used i can tell you one thing, no matter what amp you use you cold never get that sound without his extreme sense of rhythm. I have seen so many videos of people "teaching how to sound and play like ac/dc and no one comes anything near his incredible timing. That combined with cliff and phil makes a rhythm section this world will never see again
