Love the cars. I miss my father's 1959 Plymouth Belvedere with the rear view mirror on the dash, as shown in all the Dodge cars on the show. The doctors making housecalls always brings back memories too. In 64, I got the mumps and I still have a vague memory of our family doctor coming to the house to treat me.

Yes he did a huge burn out and raced around dirt roads at high speed, surprised he'd never actually killed anyone who happen to be crossing a road. What's more funny is at the end he always says " if you care to drive, drive safe. In real life he'd been pulled multiple times for dangerous driving and had multiple dui convictions, and although the show was popular it became embarrassing having him front the show, seeing as he himself was the kind of danger the public needed protecting from

USN Sailors are trained in CPR, basic first aid, flooding, and firefighting. Even in the 50s.

Many of todays younger generations are prefering earlier older cell phones. When i get frustrated with the woke, i watch highway patrol, webbs dragnet, and adam 12 on freevee app (roku) ... i was active duty some of it as active reserves 70s to 90s. USN USMC HM. When i bump into other old Vets, we see how todays young men women who have joined the military are frustrated many seek out more training with Sr rank but many dont.

Anne Anderson, the newlywed, was18 at the time of the episode. A real cutie. Would love to take her to the Hop, but I was only 8 then. =) I may sound like an oldie, but theres nothing like a skirt to make women look feminine and sexy. They still wore them in the 60s and they seem to be coming back. I see many around.

Mopar heads should love this rare shot: At 3:15 Captain Dan selects D on a push button TorqueFlite and then punches that hemi for a nice burnout in a '58 Dodge. Go Dan!

@@roadmaster720 I doubt they were hemi's most likely 383, four bbl carb. In 1958 I believe only the Chrysler 300 got the 392 hemi . Could have been the 413 those were pretty stout

@@bertgrau9246 This is a 1958 Dodge Coronet. Biggest engine was a 361 cid (probably the 305 HP). There were no 383 nor 413 in 1958. 383 available in 1959 and 413 available in 1961 NB: In 1957 Dodge had the 354 HEMI with 340 HP. - not the 392 HEMI as only Chrysler got the 392 HEMI in 1957 and 1958.

Cadbury Bunny - I lived in Memphis from 1/79 to 8/83 when i was a kid. WMC Channel 5 was my favorite. They used a steamboat whistle sound effect on their station ID. Ch 24 was the UHF channel

No one ever explained to the sailor why he was getting a shot! They could have said "You know that baby you saved? It was sick - you need a shot....." Also, I never saw a newspaper publish a story that fast!! Still entertaining!

One of the human interest episodes and a good one. Actor Brett Halsey is still alive as of July, 2022. The bride's dad is much to blame here. When children reach a certain age parents need to let go & let them make up their own minds.

Not only that, she was a dreadful actress. She wasn't at all like a normal mother with a virtually dead infant. And on another note, the script writers overlooked that a young couple with two hours to live showed no symptoms. As viewers, were we really that dumb back in the 50's? Don't answer that. They still take us for dopes ... especially the advertisers.

I was a kid when this was filmed, and people really didn’t know CPR or have any idea of what to do in these situations. They looked for an older person or a grown man, and they didn’t know what to do either.

Why didn't Matthews simply take the doctor with him when he drove up to the cabin.? Then the doc could give the shots right then and there. The sailor's life would be saved with no time wasted. But instead he leaves the doc behind and takes the father of the girl along. What for? That won't do any good. It just spooked the sailor and they would waste precious time running him down.

Yes. Back then I knew people who left their car keys in the ignition all the time. People left doors unlocked, and kids left bikes lying in the front yard. There was less crime, and people behaved better.

That sailor (Brett Halsey) was some hunk. Specially in the scene lasting only a few seconds where he's walking in the woods wearing those skin tight white short shorts popular then. That scene has no purpose at all except to show off his muscle buns and package. 50's alpha men - what happened? It's like everything else - they don't make 'em like they used to.

I suppose the HAZMAT folks will have to sanitize the filling station and surrounding area.Next question - "Where did the baby pick up epidemic meningitis, anyway?"At 16:20 it looks like the Doctor's bag is empty except for that piece of gauze he's putting in it.Now how come did Matthews tell the Doctor to "stand by" at the little grocery store? Man! That's a "crazy mixed up" throw cover across the back of the couch in the cabin.

I think that the Chrysler convertible was the same one used in episode 9. Few holes in the story….how did they get that newspaper out and delivered in an hour or so?

No sound. There are quite a few episodes without sound. The beginning theme song plays and then the sound goes off. It's not computer either.

Check out people's salaries then and that amount of money is more than you think. Two dollars is a lot when you make 50 bucks a week.
