Gotta love those (now) old cars with carburetors. I noticed the cop car Mathews was driving belched out a nice cloud of black smoke when he started it up. No emissions controls back in the day. Now you just about have to have an electrical engineering degree to open the hood, let alone trying to figure what's wrong.

The couple went back to the State they were from and sent Grand Mother a Cashiers check ...a blank Cashiers check for the full price of the home she gave the blank check to me in the office ....When I looked and saw the pay too line blank I started to shake...lol...she turned to walk away...I knew I had to stop her before she got out that door....I did...we sat down and wrote the title Companys name on there and put it in the RE Office safe...I guess in todays dollars it would be well over a Million or more by now , and I was a starving RE agent at that time....Me for the win !....lol..all I could see was me in Mexico with all that money and their Grand Mother and kids sitting on the curb....and maybe Dan chasing me up those stairs ...not a pretty sight

Since these are all based off accounts of real crimes, is this show just an example of terrible television writing, or is this how criminals really acted back then when they were caught? Every episode ends up with the criminal getting cornered, and Matthews pulls out his gun, says something slick, and the criminal just pretty much "gives up" and walks casually with officers back to the waiting police car. There was never a struggle back in the 50's? Criminals just put their hands up, said, "well? Ya got me!" and they walked away civilly, never a need for the criminal or a single patrolmen to soil his uniform by rolling in the dust and dirt? No criminal ever went hands on with Matthews, or forced him to chase after them? I'd love to see Matthews snuff out his cigarette and scale a wooden privacy fence, just once! Lol. Also, what's with the utter lack of black crime back in the 50's!? Is that how the country was back then!? If so.. what the hell happened!? Based on this show, America's public enemy number 1 was young, clean-cut, white, males, and the occasional devoted girlfriend or wife! This show paints a picture of America in the 50's where black and brown people didn't exist, and if they did, they stayed completely hidden from society and never committed any crimes!
