Gorgeous 56Buick convertible @14:19 and 18:28. I remember as a boy of 9 going with my mom and dad to the premier showing of the 56's at a dealership in Detroit. I can still remember them arguing over which color to pick.They chose the aqua blue and white. Dad had just gotten a promotion, and this was their first new car. Actually they were not built for endurance. American car manufacturers deliberately manufactured cars with a limited life span. It was called Planned Obsolescence. That’s why when Japan exported their cars in the 70s Americans gravitated towards them. Almost maintenance free. The American auto industry never recovered since. It was their fault taking advantage of Americans.

At 10:03, Dan's '56 Buick Special Highway Patrol car has a California exempt license plate which would be correct for a state of California car. However, this is the first time I have seen a patrol car with a correct exempt plate in any episode. They have always had civilian private plates (3letters & 3 numbers) but the word California across the top is still taped over.

That's because Dan was a chronic alcoholic who had his license revoked, then reinstated. Off and on. In the original shows, the State of California was credited as cooperative. State took that credit away because of Dan. Notice that some episodes are crudely edited taking out the reference to State of California. That applies to the license plates and the state car references.

I really got a kick out of seeing that stripped down '30 Model A, sort of a dune buggy. I know what fun cars they are to drive. And that '56-'57 Buick ragtop is just super fine. Dan was driving a '57 Buick 2 dr. hdtp. for a while. But when he was following the ragtop, it turned into a '55. then back to a '57. Maybe he switched cars as a way of avoiding detection.

@joep8787
5 жыл бұрын
Yes, Joan Dixon was the lead in that movie. I saw "Roadblock". Dixon was quite good in that. She was a femme fatale, but not all bad. Very beautiful and very talented. In real life she must've been a very difficult person to get along with for her to go from a lead to a bit part in a half hour TV show so quickly. Hollywood doesn't give up on talent that quickly unless there's a serious, serious problem. Another femme fatale, Gloria Grahame cheated on her husband by having sex with his teenage son and wound up marrying him, yet that did not end her career! According to Imdb, Dixon's two marriages were very short lived; a few weeks to a few months. Maybe she had substance abuse problems. Her last TV credit was 1958, 2 years after this episode, at the age of 28. No credits after that.
