Make sure to do these 4 warm up exercises before doing any badminton related footwork.
Due to the dynamic movement of these stretches, we will increase mobility of our hip movers and warm up muscles, ligaments and joints. Hips are responsible for stabilizing our pelvis and moving our legs such as moving in every direction, side shuffling, level changing, rotating and change of direction. Soooo basically everything related to footwork.
Mobility in the hips is very important in badminton as are constantly in positions such as long lunges, low stances and rotating our hips. MOBILITY is not to be confused with FLEXIBILITY. Dynamic stretches keeps our ligaments tight so we still are able to go in outer positions and recover fast. Just like an elastic band. Static stretches will increase our flexibility which is not necessary in badminton. We lengthen our ligaments and decreases it's ability to return to neutral and this will decrease our speed - we don't want that! We want to be mobile and not flexible. We want Speeeed!
