@@lindacarruthers3423 Bullshit Linda. How many times do you have to be told to get to higher ground? If nothing else at least try to figure out why they are telling you this. The announcer could also sound a little more convincing like, if you don't seek refuge you will probably be killed. Then people might snap out of it and use their head for something other than a hat rack.

@@lindacarruthers3423 I understand what you're saying but at the same time the noise you hear on the loudspeaker is a tsunami warning, so people knew a tsunami was coming regardless if they underestimated the magnitude of the earthquake.it's supposed to go like this, you hear the tsunami warning, and you get yourself as far as way from the coastline as possible or to higher ground. It's really just that simple and yet these people are just standing around like nothing happened. And with that warning you have about 30 to 40 minutes to get as far as way as you can before the tsunami hits. So the people had time to get away if not in their car on foot and as you can see by the footage there is lots of places for people to go up in those hills...

@@judgetk8327 Exactly! It's almost like they can't hear the tsunami warning blasting over the loudspeaker, or they just don't give a shit and want to check things out. It's the stupid people like that the die in natural disasters like this, because of their stupidity. pretty much everyone in Japan knows that following a large earthquake out in the ocean that a tsunami will soon follow, not to mention the warning system which is in place via the loud speaker system. And yet they just stand there watching like idiots instead of trying to get to higher ground or someplace safe, so screw them....

the warning system starts Blaring shortly after the earthquake stops, and there may have been break between the announcement of the coming Tsunami, they do play it more than just once so it's possible that this guy had started to record shortly after the first one had ended. if you are native to Japan, or just happen to live there in Japan, it's well known that after an earthquake a Tsunami will soon follow. So the best thing to do is to get away from the coastline, if you happen to be near it, and get yourself to higher ground if possible. Most residence of Japan really don't need a warning system to tell them that, seeing as how everyone who lives there knows this fact. Most also know that it takes anywhere from 30 to 40 minutes after an earthquake, for the Tsunami to hit, thats not always the case but for the most part it happens in that allotted time, Also If they happen to be on the beach and they see water recedes further than it had before, it's a sign that a Tsunami is on the way. They had enough time to evacuate the area via car or on foot, if you look in the background you can see tons of hilly areas for people to evacuate to them.

You see so many people just standing around looking, instead of trying to get to higher ground, all while ignoring the tsunami warnings that are blasting over the loudspeaker. I mean how ignorant can you be, to just stand there doing nothing to get yourself to safety? I've been to Japan before and I've been to the school as an exchange student, and one of the things they teach you is earthquake safety, or what to do in the event of an earthquake and depending on how big the earthquake is and its location especially if it's an earthquake out in the deep ocean, that more than likely a tsunami will follow. So all the people that are just sitting there know that. And people like that, plus the people who refused to evacuate is the reason why the casualties were so high. I just don't understand it, if it was me I would have been immediately stop whatever the hell I was doing and gotten as far away from the coastline as possible. Jeez people are just so phucking self-centered and ignorant.....

They dont know tsunami is coming ? They dont run to higher ground.
I truly feel sorry for all their losses but the people that are actually gathering to see the wave which in some cases have been told could be 1-3 meters. Then a 4 & 5 story house gets submerged and for the one that did not take the warnings seriously hopefully, they got washed away so they could not have any children as stupid as themselves. You no doubt will criticize me for saying that but when you see people walking along laughing at the warnings and worrying about there makeup or how good they look when other people are running for there lives, those people I would welcome into my home until they got back on their feet. I have little tolerance for brain dead people. I only hope that the powers to be, have not figured out how to cause these events and was just the earth settling. My heart goes out to the thousands of people that were too old and had no one to help them reach safety. These tragedies are a100 times worse than the wars we have fought and paid for but the earthquakes where unavoidable. I can only hope that the insurance companies don't abandon these people when they need them the most. Good luck survivors.

@Stephen, you are correct funny those people commenting when they already knew the outcome and what happened . No one ever thought the wave could be that high that's why so many died. And people judging because they already know what happened. Not thinking, the people they are seeing in the video, in that moment, are not aware what would be coming for them.
