Ideally you want the same PPFD across the entire canopy. 50% uniformity is terrible. This light at 18" above the canopy is perfect for a 3'x3'. Can you review two and three 260W XL LED kits in a 4'x4'? I would love to see how it compares with the HLG550. Also, there's symmetry along both axes. You can do the 33 measurements in one quadrant and have 4X the resolution. Can you make some pretty contour plots?

I know this is an old video but... Have you tried repositioning the lights to get a more even coverage. It seems like you could get better coverage using aluminum angle and individual heat sinks to reposition the lights to push out to the edges getting higher amounts of light on the outside and reducing the hot spot in the middle. any thoughts here? Without a par meter it's a bit of a tough experiment to try manually. I'm sure autocad could do it but I'm not that smart.

Hey man, great video - thanks for sharing this. I just had a thought while watching that might be an improvement on your already awesome vids... When you show your diagram/chart for ppfd and footprint measurements, think you could add maybe a dashed/dotted line to represent the perimeter of the actual light/fixture(s)? Do you know what I mean? It would really help visualize and kinda show a referance to how far out horizontally the light (photons) are "reaching" from the actual emitters/fixture. I think if this fixture was divided in two, and each was hung centered in one direction yet spaced out a bit wider than the "one large heat sink" fixture it is that those numbers would be more even? If maybe a little bit lower in the very middle, no? Peace.
@LEDGardener
7 жыл бұрын
Yeah, this is a good idea and I've wanted to implement it for awhile but haven't taken the time to scale these lights properly when I'm drawing up the charts. Your comment might be the kick in the ass I needed to make it happen. I have done a little bit of experimenting with spacing things out in a 3x3 and it didn't make too much of a difference. There was less of a hot spot in the middle, but I didn't really gain a whole lot around the edge by moving it out. However, I didn't separate them by a whole lot (I was using one of those triple QB heat sinks so I was restricted in how much I could space them out).
@circle4922
7 жыл бұрын
Cool, haha. Look forward to it, no hurry though. Interesting observation about the spacing you tried. When I see these LED boards and cobs etc, I immediately think we could be making extremely even canopy lighting arrangments compared to the old "one light source" HID style of lighting. I guess DIY is where it's at for that.

Jj None Yeah, you can turn up the current on the A-type drivers past their rated level. If you have a look at the Meanwell test report for each driver, rather than the spec sheet, you’ll see that in the test report they are able to get this extra power as well.

+theguy13 hey guy. The C2100A can be turned up to about 2400mA so on a single board, it will be very close to the kit driver - just a touch less - since the kit driver can do 2500mA.
