Cool system. I'm 78 now but used to race cats and travelled to over 20 regattas annually. We'd launch the boat then pull it into shore backward, which put the bows lower than the sterns. We used the pin to hold the mast on the ball then just attached the shrouds and trapeze lines, grabbed the mast and hoisted it. The whole process took about three minutes flat, or 5 or 6 if alone. As long as the bows are lower than the sterns, its easy and I can still do it today. I see so many 'contraptions' for mast raising and they all seem time consuming and look more dangerous and damage prone than that old KISS method. :)

I did the exact same thing. I made one modification to the mast. I installed an additional tang lower where I can attach the winch cable with a hook to it that way I can easily unhook it when I'm done and I don't have to use the forward stay.

Well that's cool not helpful, where is the winch? how did you string it up?

winch in under the center stay on the trailer, routes up to the front mast support through a bottom then top pulley, then I connect to the forestay lines.
