Nice job, thank you. I enjoyed seeing your homemade test wire used to confirm clutch was engaging.

Just done the compressor replacement on accord 2011. Some tips: 1. remove bottom screws of the compressor from the bottom of the car. This will give more space and make it lot easier. (12mm) There is a hole on the panel designed for that. 2. There is a hook hold the compressor. Make sure you hang it before tighten the screws.

This video is amazing. I can't believe why there are only 93 views and 4 likes on this . Good job! I like the way you explain everything and you include all the details ( socket size, recycle refrigerant etc.) This will help me a lot, I am going to change the compressor on my accord next week. Thanks a lot!

This video is titled "compressor replacement". I didn't see a replacement. While there is some good information that is not what I was looking for.

In most cases with newer cars, if the A/C compressor needs to be replaced, it is because a hole as developed on the compressor itself (usually the cause of this is rust), and all of the refrigerant has already leaked out, so there is no need for recovery. If the compressor has seized, that's a different story and the refrigerant "should be recovered by a mechanic with the proper tools". Yes I do realize that there are some people out there who really don't care about that, but it is the law in most US States. Once the system has been evacuated, then it is safe to proceed with the rest of the repairs.

Thanks for the video. Did you change the ac receiver drier after changing your compressor? In my case the stator and clutch wasn’t working so I didn’t have a leak in my system, but I did change the compressor so the system was open temporarily.

Quick notes for myself: remove panel above the bumper. (10mm) remove air intake remove the coolant tank take the left fan out. (10mm * 2 & 1 wire harness) loosen belt. (14mm push down) recycle freon (mechanic) loosen two pressure pipes (10mm) remove the power plug remove 4 bolts that hold the compressor done

Ok thanks for the reply Geo I have also a bad clutch on the compressor and also 1 fan not working. was told by a mechanic to change both fans on the radiator because changing 1 could damage both? he aye also said to change the tx valve on the evap coil and dryer in the condenser

Hi When you did the positive wire test was the negative wire still connected to the battery?

geo jose @ min 8:29 looks like the negative wire from your battery is off. One more question where do you touch the positive wire on the compressor? Just about anywhere

Persi A. From vehicle battery (+) to the compressor. Disconnect the wiring harness on the compressor, then test it.

So why not just replace the ac compressor clutch, instead of the entire compressor assembly? Especially if it's just the clutch that isn't engaging... checking ebay for best prices for this auto, it looks like a replacement clutch including the coil is only $50 with free shipping, but the entire compressor assembly is some $150 (again, with free shipping) but then you have to buy about 3 cans of freon and a can of oil as well (and you are supposed to change the ac dryer and orifice tube at same time which is more money still...). Is it that difficult to pull the clutch off the compressor (while still having the lines connected to it in the engine compartment)? I'm trying to help out a friend with a 2008 Accord with a compressor clutch that won't engage... verified it has power to that connector, but not certain yet if power is actually making it to the clutch coil itself so going to check that next.... I have seen another youtube video where the owner found that the connector to the clutch coil had corroded up and power just wasn't making it all the way to the coil so clutch couldn't engage.

MShrader211 , what I found is, it is too difficult to pull the coil assembly from the compressor. So I think changing the compressor is easier even though cost little more.

@@geosgarageandharleyusa2950 So you tried it? I did it once on a GM S10 pickup truck after the compressor clutch failed (but the compressor itself was still good), and though it was a long time ago I don't remember having any problems changing the compressor clutch with the ac compressor still bolted to the engine (though it was a truck of course, and the ac compressor was located on top of the front of the engine rather than down low like these cars are). I still want to go back to friend's house and check the plug, make sure 12V is making it thru the plug to the wire that goes directly to the clutch coil... found yesterday that 12V is making it all the way to the connector (once I finally managed to get the darn thing unplugged) but didn't have time to test the other side was losing the light by then.
