Hello guys, welcome back to Car Obsession, and welcome to another Throwback Review, the reviews in which I put a car from yesteryear through its paces.
This time I have a real treat for you, the DC2 Honda Integra Type R, a car many would regard as the best front wheel drive sports car money can buy. This is a car that has a legendary status in the automotive world, but is it deserved? I spent a week with one to find out...
Powering this Championship White 2+2 is Honda's iconic B18C 1.8 litre VTEC petrol engine, which is good for 190hp and 178Nm of torque. This power is of course fed to the front wheels via a limited slip diff and a 5-speed manual gearbox.
0-62 is dealt with in as little as 6.7 seconds, and the top speed is 145mph - not too shabby for a car that is over 20 years old. As well as the limited slip diff, the Integra has upgraded components such as thicker materials, extra spot welds and strut braces for better rigidity, and it's also a bit lighter compared to a standard Integra thanks to a thinner windscreen and less soundproofing.
