Hi Julian, try giving the loco an address in the app then turn the decoder to DCC and select inactive. Try drive it on your layout after that. I run digitrax I gave my flying Scotsman a 4 digit address then in app went to DCC and my system would only run the locomotive on address 3. I then turned the active slider to inactive, once that was complete it read my 4 digit address.

Hi Julian. Do you not remove the suppression capacitor when you do a DCC decoder installation? That's the first thing I do. It has solved a multitude of problems for me over the years.

Not in this particular install, but I have done so in the past, particularly with locos that are not DCC ready and need the decoder hardwired.

Maybe JMRI doesn’t read the Number address of the decoder?

Double-checked that on my DR5000 and the same result.

I tried the android app, was told I needed a password, hornby support couldn't help

You need an account with Hornby to use the app, it's free to register an account on the Hornby website. It's this user name and password that is required for the app.

Hi Julian. Thank you very much for another excellent video. I have been very interested in this system since I first heard about it. I had decided not to follow the DCC route as for me it was prohibitively expensive especially as I currenty run older DC Locos. So I figuredout that this system might be my tiny first step into that world (I have never used DCC in any way, shape or form). But watching this vedeo made me go and check the compatability of by three year old Samsung S20 FE 5g. Lo and behold, all S20's are incompatible! Only three years old too and was topof the range when I bouight it. You my friend have just saved me from spending money that I can't afford to waste! So thank you for that too. I'm looking forward to your next video now :) Thanks again - Maverick

I suspect time will tell as Hornby carry improvements/updates to both the chips and the app.

This was a fresh decoder (not previously installed via another device) setup from the A12 so I'm guessing the app is yet to be updated with this device.

Hi ,with trepidation I downloaded the hm7000 app onto a huawei android pad model KOB-lo9, Hornby said it wouldnt work, but it did.I bought a stand alone hornby power source and track section. The phone instantly found the chip in the Knight of Thistle loc. I installed the chip, speaker and stay alive. It took a little while to update etc about 30 min all in.I wasnt sure if it would work,it was the 8 pin chip.Well I got sound instantly and motion! so far so good,I didnt realise scrolling right gave more sounds and I particularly like the last function that does it all automaticlly. My next step is to try it on my dcc layout with an ESU ecos controller, watch this space
