Maybe this is for the Hornby Dublo new model of the DP1 & not the ex Lima Deltics..also the horn sounds are terrible

At 19:38 it’s fun to watch those speaker bobble up and down meaning there’s a lot of bass present in the recorded audio samples. I see the next advancement to the decoders will be to broadcast the sound to bluetooth speakers around their layouts with some enthusiasts using high powered subwoofers & horn speakers. To make this task simpler I see the use of multi channel bluetooth receivers to aggregate the sounds from multiple locos to a centralised speaker set and headphones.

Total crap, it's about time people started being honest about sounds.

I’m very much into DCC Sound. At the moment, I use an LD101 to control my trains. I’ve used my current layout since my son digitalised both locomotives and track, including adding decoders to all the turnouts, including the three way in the fiddle yard.

I know before I watch this video I am going to be upset because I have a Hornby Deltic which is the only DCC-ready loco that I have and there is no better-sounding Diesel Loco that I have ever heard. Martin. (Thailand)

It really does sound like the full size one that visited the Epping Ongar Railway a couple of years ago!!

As you noted, it is lacking in bass. Via my hifi amp and big speakers, it sounds like a Napier diesel in a tin can! It sounds a lot better in the Irish? loco with no top on, so maybe it is the lack of vents in the roof of the Deltic that is muffling the sound? I could be tempted by the 7000 decoders, but I'd have to buy/borrow/beg a smartphone so I could programme them to work with my Elite! - - Hornby might like to consider selling the decoders pre-loaded, for heathens like me!

Hi, great to hear the deltic sounds.I have got more control out of the EM1 in series with a 8ohm large sugar cube. (Small one too thin sounding) This gives an easier 12ohm load for the TXS amplifier. The minimum requirement is 8ohms and the em1 is 4ohm. ESU and Zimo can handle down to 4 ohms. The class 56 I have on test is at 50% volume and is clean upto 75% volume I did a little video. Cheers Steve

I have just installed a larger speaker and works a treat. Not sure why the suppled TXS speaker is so poor as it works well in other locomotives.

I have a Hornby Class 08 sound fitted locomotive. It runs beautifully with the sound switched off, but awfully when on, spitting and spluttering. I purchased the HM7000 21pin decoder and it now works beautifully. Obviously the old decoder has become faulty, even after going back to factory settings. I’m impressed with the Hornby 7000 decoders. I also have a Dapol O Gauge DCC ready Terrier. The Hornby HM7000 decoder does not fit as it has to fit the other way round, therefore they are not universal, although I am sure there must be solution to this. Thank you, I am now going to fit a Hornby HM7000 decoder to my Bachmann DP1. I would not have risked it without the confidence of your video.

It's great Hornby has finally got that Andriod app released. I'm sure it will help sales greatly. @exarkun42 it's good to hear the Deltic sound is good. I think Jenny needs a better microphone to pick up the loco sounds as they always sound a bit 'tinny" to me. I'm mainly steam and the HM7000 sounds fine in those. but I'd like to use them for an 08 and a 31 in the future. Cheers!

I’d like to put one of these new Hornby sound decoders into my DP1 Deltic prototype too. How easy, or hard, do you reckon it would be to fit cab lights at the same time? And maybe a crew?

To optimise the Deltic profile sounds with the supplied Hornby speaker, I found that I had to turn up the engine sounds up and then turn down the other ‘function’ sounds using their dedicated CVs. Its sounds much better this way.

I would suggest getting one of the megabass speakers from roads and rails which generally make a big difference for sound profiles on large locos.

I installed HM7000 in my Accurascale Deltic. The only feature on that model that I couldn't access with the Hornby decoder is the Hallway lights. Sound is awesome. Also, These decoders can run from a Railpower 1370 analogue controller with no issues. I bought two decoders, both are still working a couple of weeks later running off said controller.
