Sometimes I wonder how many takes it took for Bob Hale to do this in one go. He must've stumbled at least a couple of time doing this. o.o

He did a live version on The One Show about the River Thames about 4 minutes long. He stumbled once saying the wrong word and correcting himself like he meant it. But he continued on totally in character, not losing his train of thought and script like it never happened. Total pro!

Some of the kids at my catholic high school used to get into fights with the protestant kids from the next door school. Most of them didn't even know why they hated each other, they were just taught from a very young age to despise one another. Very sad indeed. This cycle of violence completely tore up my home county in Northern Ireland during the troubles and got us absolutely nowhere, and yet people still don’t learn.

Blu Hiubatto You don't have to feel sorry for me, kind sir. My family where lucky to get out of dodge before things went truly tits up. I myself was born three years before the conflict ended and have spent the majority of my life in England, so I've largely missed the excessive tribalism that still occurs over there.

"Finally, in 1998, on a very Good Friday, the British and Irish come to an agreement known as, well, the Good Friday Agreement, in which the Irish Government give up their claim on Northern Ireland while still giving it the right to join Ireland in the future should the population wish to, which finally sorts out the issue once and for all - hooray! Well, at least until 2016, when the UK votes to leave the European Union and the problem threatens to surface again, but that's a whole other issue for another time, right? RIGHT! We haven't got time to go into all that now and this has gone on quite long enough already! Back to you, Sam."

Protestantism did not start in England but in Germany with Luther, which Henry VIII condemned, and was ironically granted the honour of 'Defender of the Faith' by the Papacy, a title that was never revoked! The Pope was bullied by the king of Spain (also the Holy Roman Emperor) who was a relative of Catherine of Aragon, to prevent her marriage with Henry from being annulled. Henry sent envies out to Rome, but they were secretly working for Catherine to stir up support as they went along on their journey to Italy too. The Papacy actually liked Henry and without Catherine and Henry (I of Spain, V of Holy Roman Empire)'s meddling, might well have passed as a mere historical footnote, as divorces of this sort had been sort and granted before. Another thing that is constantly overlooked and forgotten about when learning about how England broke away, is that Rome was actually invaded and sacked by the Holy Roman Emperor Henry V, who used protestants to do the deed, as Catholics refused to. Image the sight: bishops, and cardinals, in their robes holding staffs commanding troops in battle! Those brightly coloured Vatican guards engaged in combat, and armies of priests and monks too! The Pope and his local forces (and armies of clergy) were overcome and corned in a fortress where they were held prisoners. Because of this, no message could reach them to make amends with King Henry VIII and with all the other regions of Europe that were breaking out in revolt against the Church. The the time of the Reformation was a very complex, tumultuous period.

The Catholic Church was perfectly willing to grant divorces when politics required, as in the case of Eleanor of Aquitaine, whose divorce from French king Louis VII was granted on the basis of being 'too closely related'. But Charles V, Holy Roman Empire and Spanish ruler, was Catherine of Aragorn's nephew, and happened to have the Pope at the time as his prisoner. And yes, that means Philip II, Charles' son. was closely related to Mary I of England.

Imagine if they covered the Balkan Wars: "Hello, and welcome to the News at When. When? The 1990s, when the people of Southeastern Europe decided that they couldn't live with each other anymore and started to go their separate ways. Here to explain is Bob Hale, with the Yugoslavia Report." ... "So Lord Carrington comes up with this new plan called, well, the Carrington Plan, which will make all six republics independent. However, the Serbian President, Slobodan Milošević, doesn't want to dissolve Yugoslavia, so he refuses to sign. Guess he 'Slobodan' that idea!" ... "So by now, all that's left of Yugoslavia is the republics of Serbia and Montenegro, and that is the end of that. BUT NOT FOR LONG! Because in 2003 the country decides to change its name to, er, Serbia and Montenegro, and that is the end of that. BUT NOT FOR LONG! Because in 2006, Montenegro finally catches up with everyone else and decides that it now wants independence after all, so Serbia and Montenegro divides into... well, Serbia and Montenegro. And that really is the end of that. BUT NOT FOR LONG! Because just two years later, Kosovo declares independence from Serbia, only this time Serbia isn't quite so keen on losing yet more territory and refuses to recognise it, and that really, really is the end of that. OR IS IT? After all, this is the Balkans, where everyone hates each other, so who knows what will happen next? Back to you, Sam."

It's actually England who says that, he just represents the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. Wales, Ireland (North and South I presume) and Scotland do exist but never made a appearance in Hetalia. I can only think of the moment when England is getting hit by stones by them (more specifically Scotland). And yeah, Protestants and Catholics. It confuses me so much on why it mattered so much back then. I know Religion is important but let people believe what they believe and don't kill or forcefully convert them for it.

So what language was spoken in the now states of Scotland, Wales and England before 1611. y since half of the now english language words were invented to create that translation and the other half of today's english was created to revise those subsequent revisions. Maybe since there was only one king any other kings would have to be protestants?

So funny how people of the same religion (Christianity) have fights over who is worshiping correctly? Cults that worship the same God and kill each other over their differences is just silly., but so is religion. I know it was more of a fight for power that the pope wanted and not just religious differences.
