I imagine it's probably how the NWA planned all along. Have Skinner acting obviously evil in order to draw Angel's suspicion on only him, and when Angel finds nothing that can confirm that he's the killer because he's not the only one doing it, he loses credibility with his fellow officers and no one in the village will believe anything he says.

They reshot the scene where Angel is jogging and meets Skinner for the first time because the blocking was wrong. But then they ended up using the original take because Edgar Wright realized the way Dalton kept shoving Pegg toward the edge of the frame made him seem more sinister. Wright's editing is meticulous that way.
@MeansofIntrigue
4 жыл бұрын
I completely understand Dalton's impulse to break the fourth wall after that line. Skinner is such an obvious villain that that kind of theatrical behaviour only makes sense. Moreover, Wright's works have been known to feature that kind of fourth wall break (Pegg winking at the camera and toasting the audience in 'Shaun of the Dead' for example). Obviously, it's not what Wright wanted at the time nor what the film needed, but an understandable hiccup nonetheless.

Grosvner Mcaffrey To be brutally honest, Dalton should of been Bond as early as For Your Eyes Only. It’s stripped back and realistic approach would of suited him. And he didn’t want to play his version of Bond as a cartoon character like Moore did, hence why audiences in the 80’s got too comfortable with Moore outstaying his welcome. It’s a shame the legal issues in the early 90’s stopped him from doing at least two more Bond films, because he would of had a solid legacy to look back on.
@Wolf-wc1js

@@GrosvnerMcaffrey he actually was considered as 007 as early as the late 60s to replace Connery twice but he was in his early to mid 20s and thought he was too young at the time.
