I'm a 37-year-old lady who got married at the age of 23 and divorced at 30.
I am remarried and pregnant now. My two children from my first marriage stay with their father in South Africa. For now, we are staying at my house while we build our new home with my new family.
My new husband moved in with his daughter (18) and last month she was involved in an accident. Fortunately, she was not injured but my car was badly damaged and I was extremely mad at her. I asked my husband to send her daughter to her mother so that she can be taught life lessons.
Her mother lives in a high-density suburb and she doesn’t have a car. All hell broke loose as my husband accused me of being too harsh and used the "if it was your child would you do that?“ card on me. I wasn’t having it so she went to her mother and now she wants to come back but I am not ready.
To make matters worse, my mother-in-law is now questioning my decision to marry someone with his own child when I knew I can't handle it? Even though I apologised, I stuck to my decision and avoided exchanging words with her. I am fixing this car alone. My husband is not financially stable. I’m now heavily pregnant and I don’t want to deal with the stressful situation with my stepdaughter.
Was I wrong to temporarily send my stepdaughter back to her mother?
