I think this is a JT8D-200 series engine (-209, -217, -219) AKA Big JT8D. It has a single stage fan. The small JT8Ds (-1, -5, -7, -9, -11, -15, 17) have two fan stages.

I worked on the assembly floor In Middletown, Ct in the late 70s on the -9. -11 -15 ,17 and -17RB. A couple of the customers I remember building JT8s for I flew on 3-4;times a month for about 15 years starting in 1980 commuting to and from work in the Arctic. I remember they had a 208 up in the test building. Myself and my co-worker worked so fast when things got slow the foreman told us to take a walk around and let the slow guys keep busy.

the man who is reflected in the glass (minute 1:05) is very similar to my dad. My dad works with the JT8D in these times that's why we watched the video. I was surprised

Jt8d is a low bypass turbofan. Notice the long duct on the inside of the engine.

you get sucked inside one of these it has more blades than the 747 engine it would slice you up so much that all that would be left are tons and tons of little molecules

Is the JT-8 the J-75?

Maxwell Harris JT8D was based on the J52. J75, scaled up J57, had the JT4 as its commercial companion.

The J57 turbojet was also used on some 1950s jet airliners, where it was known as the JT3C: its turbofan variant the JT3D was known as TF33 in military use. No civilian aircraft ever used the J52 turbojet (if they had it would have been known as JT8A) while the Volvo RM8 was a military afterburning variant of the JT8D turbofan used in the SAAB Viggen.

Millions of inner ear hair cells have been killed by this machine in exchange for their attached nervous systems' tacit ego fulfillment.... I love the sound of a JT3D but am terrified of going deaf.
