"Ground Takeoff Power" is my absolute favorite Pratt & Whitney song. Best when played at full blast volume from a window seat!

I worked the assembly floor at Pratt for a couple of years. They were putting about 3 engines out the door a day on three shifts.. Then I quit and moved far away, took a job and flew in jets with these engines 3-4 times a month for years going to and from work. I would tell my co-workers that I might have helped build the engine out there. They would laugh as I was their electronic technician working on oil well logging tools.

The last of the great Boeing 737 jets. It has been pretty much all downhill for the 737 after this period.

F**k THAT RATION

It’s the amount of air that goes through the core of the engine versus what passes around the core from the fan. These were low by pass ratio versus the huge fans now with high bypass ratios.Pratt and Whitney taught me that.

@@Chris_at_Home yeah I know. It's funny it almost looks like a turbojet it looks like there is no bypass at all lmao

@@owouwu9032 The bypass duct ran the length of the engine to the rear nozzle. The distance between the engine core and outer duct was less than 12”. It was over 40 years ago I worked on these.

Definitely the stetzer valve. Going to need 30 wt ball bearings, and some 3 in 1 oil. Prepare it with some gauze.

Eargasm sounds. Love these old skool skinny engines. Nowadays they have a big bypass fan on the front but the “core engine” is now the skinny part of the engine inside the modern cowlings and is practically the same size as the old turbojet engines. You can sometimes see right through the modern engines past the big fans and still see the small core engine in the middle. What is the smoke coming from the bottom of engine 2?
