Is there nothing for tradition? Surely keep the grandfinal at its traditional time. Why does everyone want to change. Keep something traditional, please? Sad how big mouth commentators want to run the game. Supporters built the game, give them some say.

Because the ideal of growing the game, particularly through the marque game, would mean moving to a later time to suit international audiences. Kick off at 5.30 would mean a Uk 8.30am watch instead of 5 and would be more ideal in the us too.

There is a very remote chance that with a twilight or night Grand Final there could be a power failure. It has happened before but play can continue later that night or even the next day, be it a regular season game or a final. With a GF it is a lot different and that would create all sorts of problems. Continue the game the next day ? No way. Day Grand Final, ALWAYS!

Thanks Jimmy for bringing it up about not hearing the journos questions, it's appalling. And Eddie the Brisbane team next door had nothing to do with it, it's been like this for a few years now so get with the program Ed.

I'm glad Jimmy is being harsh on Sydney. It's not being talked about enough how bad they fumbled and how their recent GF track record is clearly an issue that can't be ignored.

I think its got something to do with the dimensions of the SCG.. depending where you look, 8m shorter and five metres less wide... which doesnt sound like much, but it does mean if you play off your man, the way the Swans do, the direct opponent does have more room to get away from you... Brisbane exploited that I think some of their cross kicks diagonally allowed the man then run directly on to goal with the defender in his wake...
@ma3stro681

@@PeterM1-qx1tz A ground’s dimensions have nothing to do with not being hard in the contest, being accountable for an opponent and running hard and tackling hard. The Swans have gone woke and soft. Having their female “sports psychologist” speaking to the players at half time says it all. The current side has nothing on the hard, real Bloods teams of 2005/06 & 2012 …
@PeterM1-qx1tz

@@ma3stro681 Sure, Im not disputing most of what you said.... I didnt know they had a female sports psychologist talking to them at half time by the way, so thanks for the update. My point is that at the SCG, you can give a guy a few yards, and the boundary is right there, there is nowhere for him to go... at the G, its that extra half kick or handball over the top.. give him any room and he is gone.. like we saw on the weekend. Cheers, its all good. ; ]

I think the double chance is nonsense.. the only advantage you should get is home ground.. once you are in finals it should be sudden death... 1st plays 8th, 2nd plays 7th and so on... week three you have the bye to let the two best teams recover.. and then on to the big game. The week before the finals, you announce the All Australian side, then your four state sides, WA, SA, Vic and the allies (players can make both) and the state sides play a game on Saturday, and then Sunday the weekend before the granny when there is no footy. One year WA will play Victoria, next year they play SA,, and the third year they play the Allies... Obviously you cant include players involved in the grand final, but they will still get awarded the state guernsey if they are good enough. I think you would be surprised at the amount of fans who will turn up.. state of origin is a great concept, what better time to do it than at the point of the season where the most interest is on, during the one weekend when theres no footy? I personally hate the end of season bye precisely because theres no game to watch.

The design of the current MCG is anti the average fan. It has too many levels of corporate boxes and dining rooms with most of the fans stuck way up the top . The old MCG held more people, was half the height and had twice the atmosphere. Stadium design should be for the people!

Ed, gotta get Kylie for the first twilight grand final next year. Let’s see if the boy from broardy has any pull. One other issue, swans didn’t make the 8 last year had an easier draw put them in a fake position on the ladder and that’s what happens when you meet a strong tuff side in the big dance. Go lions❤. Lets see how the swans go next year with a tuffer draw

How glorious does the MCG look on grand final day. All team supporters are together, it stands out like dog balls. I think capacity was just shy of under 6 in this season's gf between two interstate teams. Just awesome but Sydney let us down because all we want is a close game, and it's the best game.

Way too early. They will likely spend 2025 getting the club established and the admin side of things, job appointments etc. Maybe they'll join the 2025 draft, but if not then 2026 would be the year they start to build the team. Look at how GC and GWS established the club and wider footy squad before throwing a senior team in the deep end of the competition.

Exactly. As an old South supporter, this is the biggest cause of my losing complete respect for the club, that has obviously gone very woke under Tom Harley. Replacing “sons” in the old club song to appease the AFLW side (which is a joke in itself) is another big bone of contention for me, as is the Pride round nonsense. Like the silenced majority, I despise virtue signalling and having it rammed down my throat (just like with the divisive Welcome To Country that no one wants). But the club won’t care because of record membership, high attendances, and let’s face it, most Sydney based supporters wouldn’t have a clue and are most likely also woke. But the reality is, go woke, choke! The Swans are now a joke, and if the club is serious, Horse, Kinnear Beatson and Emma Murray need to be shown the door …
