In Islam fasting for two days a week (Monday and Thursday) is sunnah, which means our Prophet Mohammed peace be upon him did that regularly. Because fasting is really good for our overall health.

Informative, thank you. 👍🏼 I've done intermittent fasting (time restricted & 800 calorie, following a Mediterranean diet) for the last 5 yrs, and doing intensive 2 weeks or so a time. Lost 9kg and 5 ins from my waist. It's motivating to see other fasting variations and options, will switch to the 5:2. Could work better around family life with young children. Found the fasting calms my MS symptoms during flare ups so I hope to keep it going.

Im just a random lol but Personally I wouldn’t recommend it cz I was told that I can ruin ur metabolism that way and so I’d say to portion out ur meals thru out the day in the 8 hr window of eating bcz in the 16 hours that u don’t ur body will naturally burn the fat so no need to starve yourself to one meal in the 8 hr window for 1 meal only . I was doing the same thing and man I saw no results until I ate throughout the day , but well it’s different for people

that 5:2 method actually already been taught by prophets Muhammad SAW 1400 year ago to muslims. Fasting every monday and friday from subuh till magrib (approx. 5.30 am to 7.30 pm). Fasting also has been practiced by other prophets before Islam. Sadly most people nowadays do not practice it anymore. More sadly, eating junk food is a job and eating too much is a sport for some people now.

Thank you so much for watching the video and taking time to leave a comment. Unfortunately (and I know this will be frustrating for you), I am unable to give individual medical advice out on this channel. This is because of medico-legal reasons, not knowing your full case, circumstances, and it would be unethical of me to do so otherwise. I have included the general resources I used to make this video in the description box but I have to advise that you speak to your own health provider (e.g. doctor, nurse) so that they can properly assess your case. This is the safest and most ethical advice I can give since this is just intended as a general educational resource. Thanks for understanding.

Have a question! I'm currently fasting 16:8 (or even 18:6), eating in 12-20 window. That comes naturally, i dont want to eat before 12-14 hours and i'm not hungry after dinner if had plenty of tasty protein. I'd like to try 5:2 (ideally) or at least 6:1, since it should be more effective (right?), But wondering: won't it slow metabolism? Why my organism won't consider it starvation? Or if I'm eating fine (1200-1600, nutritional value ok) than it's better not to fast that long?

16:8 works for me, especially because you don't have to count calories. Low carb (no cola or ultra processed food), healthy protein (oily fish and lean meat), fresh fruit and veg, cheese and yoghurt...quite Mediterranean 😊 Calories reduced anyway as not snacking or eating junk. 5 to 8 Km walks daily may try resistance training to maintain muscle. 72 with Metabolic Syndrome...lost 13Kg in one month so far... another 6Kg to reach my target. The difficulty will be getting an appointment with my NHS GP to check the results for my high blood sugar (pre diabetic), high blood pressure and high cholesterol. I take my Amlodipine but have dumped my statin (suspect it's genetic and have survived since 50 anyway 😂)
