A real time view of the steps the Danish pipe maker "Former" (Hans Nielsen) takes to complete the shape of a Billiard - uptill final sanding and finish.
I'm a machinist, watching this gentleman he is a machinist, and a woodworker and both are artistic the combination is DaVinci! 😁

It was very cool to see a master in his element. There is no wasted movement, he knows precisely what he’s looking for and how to achieve it. I love watching his process of shaping, and the orderly way he takes off material to keep things symmetrical! I will watch this many times as I continue to learn. Thank you Lars, for the time and expertise to bring us this production!

Now we can all see how much artisan work is involved in those beautiful Former-pipes. They are expensive because of the sheer amount of perfect handwork. They always look beautiful. They feel great and they smoke delicious! Master pipemaker at work here!

Such a profound process...giving new, even greater, appreciation for evey last pipe bought on a whim...thing is my whim was someone elses long labor and skill. Thank you for posting this and thank you KZitem algorithms for suggesting this master class proper. Ill never smoke another pipe the same....ever! Respect. ✌😎

I like how he spent so much time and care shaping the bit. I know from my own pipe smoking past that having a bit that fits your bite and feels good in the mouth is the most important factor in whether you will like a particular pipe or not.

An incredible craftsman doing something he enjoys and demands perfection of himself. Awsome to watch the attention to detail. The world will soon miss the work of the craftsmen of all trades who strive for the best job they can do. We will soon be doomed to accepting half assed products by purple haired millinials cranked out on 3-D printers while they Facebook and whine about working 25 hrs a week.

I think it will come back as people will be needing hobbies. Automation will take over a lot of jobs in the transportation sector (Tesla, Boston Dynamics) which is 10% of the US workforce. Those people won't all be able to find new jobs. Universal basic income may become a necessity (if it works) but what are all of those people going to do with their time?
