Sir your timing on this video is awesome. Just left my comfortable job after 20 years to follow my dream of doing pretty much what you’re doing. Thankfully my family is keeping me fed while I’m in the market for a good used skid steer and mini ex. Good advice on owning real estate. Location location location. It’s been a wild ride on what land has value has done in the last decade in my area. Doesn’t hurt to invest in precious metals too. They’re going up nicely and are a good store of value. Ammo too.

You're definitely right on the team angle... The successful entrepreneurs that I've been able to talk to all have that one point in common - build a good team of good people, keep them happy, and that's how whatever venture you're working on will grow and become even more successful.

Great advice, Stan! I'm not as far along as you, but I've been building my business for a while. I think Steve Jobs would agree with you. I think he said something about building a business being about hiring people smarter than yourself. I don't remember the exact quote though. Keep up the great content, man.

I had a remodeling company from 2005-2015, got bored with it and invested in better tools for custom cabinet and built ins and have been doing well the last 10 years, I’m not closing that company but shopping for a used skid steer and mini excavator….. I’ve realized I re invent myself every 10 years. Not looking for dirt work but already have 5-6 jobs lined up. We shall see where this venture takes me. I also started from nothing but a grandfather teaching me construction and hard work. Small farm and poor.

I’ve done foundations for additions with a mini ex and clearing, moving dirt with bobcats over the years. Lots of work to do at my house to get ready for a build a shop. Lots of grading and water issues with my house built in 1956. Great excuse not to rent lol

I’ve been self-employed for 28 years doing construction mostly trimming out houses for the first 15 years you buy equipment slowly you figure out what is needed one time versus you need a tool multiple times a month then you buy it and then it slowly grew and it was awesome I had a blast until I physically could not do it anymore due to medical problems from being Navy Diver 5 joint replacements back issues and now I’m waiting on to replace two shoulders can’t quite do construction, but I’ve got another business that I am working and it is awesome

@@Dirtmonkey quick question. Can concrete or asphalt be poured right next to a wall if it is only 3 feet? Is the three foot rule only for machinery and compacting or should there not be anything 3 ft back from the wall on top in general? For arguments sake, let’s say the wall is 4 or 5 feet as well, something where you’d say it’s at least holding back some weight and not only decoration.
