I’m emotional about stuff.
Especially if I’ve owned it for a long time or if it reminds me of a special person, place, or period of my life. These items hold memories and sentimental value that can be hard to let go of.
When I moved across the world 2 years ago, I had to get rid of almost everything I owned, including sentimental items. To be honest, my decluttering journey has been far from easy.
Letting go of items that hold so much meaning was challenging, but it also taught me a lot about what truly matters. Besides, packing your life in a couple of suitcases forces you to minimize and prioritize.
You cannot keep it all. You cannot keep items “just in case”. This process forces you to reflect on the value of your possessions and make thoughtful decisions.
Today, I want to share a few things I’ve learned about letting things go. I talk about how I declutter sentimental items in a kind and compassionate manner, free from shame or guilt.
