To darken the logo, simply reverse the polarity after the etch.

Yes I use the same train transformer and my cords have alligator clips on one end and buck connectors on the other which I transfer from AC to DC which each have leads with but connectors and it etches and darkens!!!!

You could use cold blue on it and then sand it off the blade.. that would darken it some

Chlorine gas is what it's making and yes it's some bad stuff I use my respirator when I etch. I use a 350amp 12v jump box as my power source for my etching. And thanks for the info on the cricket machine I'll check them out for myself.

Hello, The gas is Chlorine Cl2. This is toxic and can make acids attacking your lungs when inhaled. I think baking soda is a better electrolyte for that because it doesn't form this Cl2 but CO2 But baking soda has a lower solubility than Sodium Chloride (salt). And the intensity will be lower.

Can that be done after the scales/handle material have been added?

Yes but I prefer to do it before, so I can still finish sand the blade unhindered

@@FireCreekForge great. It is more of a "I have one of my first knives that I built that I would like to put my mark on it" than a matter of future process. I really appreciate what you have shared and have used it a lot. Thank you.
