The pants are gorgeous! I I hope that you can adjust them without too much of a headache. Sometimes I just have to wait til the mood strikes to rip a garment apart and do it again. I was one of those people that finds 3 ways to wear something. Of course if I love it, I might have to make more things to have it work 3 ways :)

First of all Izzy...you have amazing patience! Thank you so much for sharing your whole process with us. Your red pants turned out beautifully and with that fabric are definitely work appropriate. I personally think the black hoodie on top is very flattering and accentuates your figure in a good way. Will look forward to your journey of fixing them. I'm focused on SewFrugal 24 for a few more days for starters and then as with every year, have loads more patterns I want to try but after hopefully actually entering something this year, would be my first , want to switch gears and take advantage of at least some Sloper School. a sloper is daunting to me at this point but I love Jenny so it's worth a try and my pattern is A-0 printed. Great work in building your channel with all these collabs. Inspired by your positive attitude and a bit of humor. xx Karen

You’re very sweet Karen! I have to be honest - in the moment, when I first put the pants on, I wasn’t happy at all 😂 But it’s all part of learning the craft isn’t it? Good luck with your sew frugal makes. As for sloper school, it’ll all be there whenever you’re ready, but I’d like to try and take advantage of the live fit clinics if I can so I’m desperately trying to keep up with it. Xx

They are beautiful pants and the color is great on you, too! I like them best with the Metra blazer and the striped Newport top. I hope you can get them to your liking as they look like a wardrobe "hero," a term I recently saw for a garment that does it all, or at least, does a lot. I am trying to remember about that rule of 3 when it comes to buying or making things, as, like a lot of us, I have a number of garments that are kind of one-trick ponies - very nice, but they don't go with enough other things to pay their way in the closet. I saw a couple of great suggestions in the comments about other things to do with these pants as far as alterations and additional ways to style them - the sky's the limit for them!
@dizzyquiltsandsews

Thank you so much! I'm also trying to keep the rule of 3 in mind because it's so easy to get excited about a pretty print and then end up with a garment you can only wear with one other thing.

Izzy, I love your cargos and think they look great! The colour is fabulous and they’ll fit in well with your work wardrobe AND for a hockey game! It is so frustrating when things don’t fit exactly the way we expect. I’ve had the same experience with stretch wovens more than once 😔 I agree with another commenter who suggested wearing them a few times before making changes. Maybe some darts would help? Those pockets were painstaking so I know you don’t want to remove them! Overall a fabulous make, sew sister! ❤

Oh Izzy! The pants are beautiful. I’m so sorry the fit isn’t just right. You might try tagging Jenny Rushmore to see if she has any suggestions. I hope you are able to get the fit right. Thank you Angie! Someone suggested I post on the Cashmerette Club community and I might do that. The whole knee thing was a complete lightbulb moment for me. I had so many issues with pants in the past and it never occurred to me that the knees were in the wrong spot. Where patterns land on us vertically is probably just as important as how they fit us horizontally!

@@dizzyquiltsandsews you are exactly right. I had never thought about that until Whitney at TKS mentioned that. Just by doing a vertical adjustment in the right place can fix so many other issues.

Hi Izzy. You did great on the red pants. My favorite outfit is them with the Metra blazer -- it looks really sharp. Arg on fitting -- woven is really different from stretch woven fabric, and every stretch woven is different too. I've been burned on trying to make pants that fit using muslin as the test garment. It's just too different from most fabrics. But the stretch wovens are so expensive it's kind of sacrilege to even think about doing a test garment out of them. Depending on how much extra fabric there is at the tummy, you could try some experiments. I know it's a hassle to take a waistband off, make it smaller, and then put it back on (especially when the buttonholes are already in place). If you don't want to do that, I'd try to fiddle with pinning on a bit of elastic at each side of the waistband and basting in fisheye darts on either side of the zipper as close to the pockets as possible to see if that does the trick. The fisheye darts would go to nothing at the waistband, be biggest where the fabric pooches out the most, and then go back to nothing as you get to the thighs or wherever the pants fit just right on the legs. If it works, just stitch in the darts and open up the side waistband areas to insert the bits of elastic, anchor in place, and close the waistband back up. I hope you try to alter your beautiful new pants. Best of luck, Antonia

Thank you so much Antonia!! I think I'm definitely going to have to take the waistband off to fix these. Someone else suggested darts and if I need to cut a new waistband, I can do that too because I have some of the fabric left. I will definitely try to alter them because I absolutely love that fabric!

great collab! i have not yet found the secret of adjusting pants after sewing them. usually the style lines get changed too dramatically (like losing pockets, etc) or it just doesn't look right b/c taking in the side seams might not fix the problem if you actually needed an adjustment on the inner leg or rise area. i usually just chalk it up to a learning experience and pledge to do better on my next pair. not an expert by any means so maybe others have more insight.

Your pants are lovely! I know the feeling you have: I just finished a pair of pants and the waist is too big! I had to sew the button/buttonhole and bar hook and eye way over to make them snug around the waist. It can be so frustrating! But I will, like you, wear the pants. The fabric of my pants is a Lady Mc Elroy needlecord-so I will not trash my pants needless to say. I have enough left over fabric from which I am making a shawl collar vest.

Maybe wear them a few times and see how much the sizing bothers you? I've spent a lot of today altering and mending things and, although it's not as exciting as making new things, it does mean that you get to keep loved items in your wardrobe. Take care x

You did a great job. I think you can take it in with darts. Two in the front with lowering the waist band a little bit if you have extra fabric in the front and four on the back. Then adjust the elastic if you need. Before you do anything first calculate how much fabric you need to take in from the front then calculate the front darts, do the same for the back. You can do stay stitch during the fitting process. I wish you all the best.

I like them on you. The colour is amazing. I think a cargo style vest jacket with drawstring waist would look fabulous over your tops. Worn open it would provide a vertical line and waist definition, you would then have a 'suit'.
