This video and your skills demonstrate how useful can be a video tutorial. I am a logseq user thank to your video and in these days I am searching a web app to begin highlight and import to logseq. And as a magic arrives this your new video to solve immediately this need. Thank you very much for your work, I am a logseq beginner but in 3 days with your videos I have a workflow!! The Title could be: "From zero to a logseq workflow" 🙂

Also... ... The daily log/journal 'page' - your larger references - I assume are still 'logged' into those pages (notes) so the record of the day, and the occasional 'find' by the recall of what you did about the same time / when you did, and tracking the return visits...

Not always. Sometimes I do make a note of "read [[Book title]]" with a couple of observations, but it's not super necessary in my workflow.

Very interesting. You attribute the ability to do your workflow (read+annotate, import, process and finalize) to the articles showing up as blocks rather than pages. I don't see how you couldn't do the same workflow if it was based on pages. Eg you could have a query to show all imported/to-process articles, and you could reference processed article pages from your journal. This makes me wonder if you can query for "pages that are not linked to" or "pages without any nesting" to only catch those that still need processing Otherwise you'd need to set or remove a tag after processing. Anyway thanks again. I will check it out !

You could do the same workflow with pages, but I don't like adding individual articles as pages in my database. You could definitely use a system of tags to track the progress too, but that feels like an unnecessary step for me given my current workflow

@@CombiningMindsPKM Curious on this point, what are the downsides of having articles as separate pages?

Thanks for the great work. You introduced me to Logseq and I am still findings way to use it everyday and make things more organized. (To be honest, it can also be a bit of a time trap, getting lost in all the endless possibilities). Anyway, I integrated Omnivore as you showed in this video, but I can't seem to get the highlight notes as a child block of the highlight blocks. And that part is not shown in the configuration. Is this something which is broken with a newer version of the plugin? Or is there some magical way? Could you share your highlight template? Thanks

Thanks for the feedback. There was unfortunately a change when Logseq updated their API. I asked about it on the forum here: discord.com/channels/844965259462311966/943967463299764314/1147088524282175590 I'm not sure what the progress is to allow for the same functionality.

I'm frustrated. Logseq does not let me put the template with the spaces below, so the elements of the properties appear in the same block as the title and I don't know how to fix it.

Not sure exactly what the problem is. The template linked in the video is for use in the Omnivore application though.

Can you import bookmarks exported from your browser to Omnivore? I struggle to find a bookmark manager that would let me add tags AND NOTES to the links... where is the line between bookmark manager and read-it-later app anyway?
@CombiningMindsPKM
Жыл бұрын
You can import a CSV into Omnivore, but you have to do it via their API which is not something I've done. Here is the documentation: docs.omnivore.app/using/importing.html I think Omnivore still only lets you add tags (or labels) to links, but you can add the notes in Omnivore itself. I use bookmarks for functional websites that I need to revisit (e.g. hosting, dashboards, whiteboards) and Omnivore only for articles.

Can you explain the difference between tags: and tags::? The double colon makes anything I type after it a page, but single colon doesn't unless I use double brackets. It's nice to be able to quickly add tags with double colon but not knowing if I have the tag already is annoying. Just trying to figure out the fastest workflow for myself.
@CombiningMindsPKM
Жыл бұрын
'tags::' creates block properties, and the in-built Logseq functionality for the tags property automatically creates pages when using it. 'tags:' had no real utility apart
@GeniusUnleashed

Does it have an import and export for a list of links? Noticed that it is also tedious to delete link individually.

Let's be pragmatic adults here: Logseq is a trap... Dario, I reckon it's valuable to encourage and give suggestions to use this product, but it is misleading if you do not point out caveats. To synthesize it, this product is not reliable at all and may lead in major disappointment if used seriously. It looses data and cripples the very structures the user needs to rely on. Of course the version numbering should give the user suggestions that this is under development, but we are not all IT and Git wizards, who are able to decipher what is in development / bug fix and rollout pipeline. Please do not talk about strategy for your not taking, as it simply can not be a basis for strategy as it blows up in current state.

Could you elaborate on the drawbacks of Logseq?
@CombiningMindsPKM
Жыл бұрын
The Logseq team has been clear about the fact that the application is in beta release and that there may be data loss issues. I don't feel like I have to put that caveat in every video. I have experienced data loss issues too, but the impact has been insignificant in comparison with the benefit I have found in using Logseq.

I have been using Logseq for almost 2 years. While it is true that Logseq used to get data loss problem in the past, it has gotten much better now and I haven't lost my notes in a long time (before start using the new sync feature which is now only in beta, so it's to be expected). I encourage you to give it another try if you tried it long time ago. I agree with you that sometimes I hesitate to recommend it to friends if I know they don't have the tech skills and patience to deal with changes at this point. However, in defence of Dario, I feel like his strategy of taking notes applicable even if we use other apps (e.g. reserving page for only some topic with a lot of data, and put small ad hoc notes in journal to avoid clutter), so you can adapt it for Roam research if you want. I do feel that to say that this whole system is going to "collapse" and inevitably "disappoint" is an overstatement. Edit: On the other, if we look at Tana which only came out less than half a year and you'll see content creators have already been making "courses" about how to use it even though the app still isn't even half as stable as Logseq. Those deserve way more criticism, if you ask me.
