I enjoyed the quietness of this video...I felt like I was really tagging along while you did exactly as you explained so well. On our front porch we have two asparagus ferns still hanging in there but starting to show a bit of stress. I’m in Birmingham Alabama and we just started getting really cold temperatures...in the 20’s in the nights and 30’s in the days. They are protected but should I be fertilizing them? I usually have pretty good luck wintering over these ferns.

This video was so beautifully done. I just love the way Aaron edits, and the addition of the drone shot in the garden was spectacular. ..... This is my first year with accent pots outside, and having blooming Hellebores in a few of them (thanks for the introduction to this gorgeous plant). It's been a mild winter here until this week and it's been in the 20's for the past 3 days. It surprised me how my Hellebores' stems and flowers froze stiff then the next day when it warmed up a bit they looked perfectly normal. Today they are back to frozen again. They're supposed to be hardy to zone 5 and I'm in 7b, do they really survive all these freezes and thaws? multiple times?

Yes Laura, watching this video with my cup of tea is so relaxing. I can't do this where I live because all I see are huge mounds of snow from my shoveling the side walks, maybe later this year when I get my covered porch I will have some plants in containers that will need water and providing they don't freeze I can water those through the winter, but I do live in Idaho and snow seems to be the only things in the landscape. Thanks so much Laura and Aaron great informative video.

Hi Laura, I too am a visual/ hands on learner. Thank you for the great visual! Have you ever thought about attaching a short hose legenth to your winter spigot that just reaches to your ‘bucket cart’ so you don’t have to lift the larger containers full of water? And perhaps investing in a watering can that is the perfect size that you Can dip into your larger vessels... again eliminating the heavy lifting... Use that extra energy for some thing more fun! Kindly, Rena🌿😉🌿

Hey Laura, since you’re talking about watering I meant to ask you when you did your cold frame tour, but how often do you water those plants? Or do you not at all? My garden center was having a 50% off sale for perennials late last fall and I bought a few of them and left them in our shed until Spring. They’ve been cut back, so they’re basically containers of roots in soil. I haven’t been watering them and was told that I didn’t have to until I planted them. Is it ok not to water them or am I slowly killing my plants? Thank you for creating such great content - watching your videos with a cup of coffee in the AM before work is one of my favorite things to do!
