Sir I am a college student from India and currently 165 cm tall and I am constantly being bullied just because of my inability too look smart wrt to other students with slightly greater average height. I had like to undergo bone lengthening surgery in my country which cost around 10,000$ here. Keeping the risk factors associated in this surgery, I had like to underdo only 6 cm increment in my height . I have taken measurement of my tibia to thigh ratio which suits ideally at 0.8 . With respect to your experience can you tell me if 6 cm increase in height would be less/more painful compared to 8cm increase in height. By the way I am only 23 years old and planning to get this surgery done before I turn 28. I could have left my self in absolute trauma for lifetime if I had never found your video. You have really boosted my hopes and under no circumstances I would restrict myself from undergoing this surgery. Please give a valuable suggestion on how much increment in height would help me gain a decent height with lesser pain.
@Cyborg4Life
4 жыл бұрын
Hi thanks for sharing your story! I am a believer that you can lengthen more conservatively like 6cm and maintain a full functionality especially since you're young. Plus over 2 inches in height will be a huge increase and you won't be bullied anymore. There is less pain and recovery for 6cm than 8cm

What about ups per body and arm length? It seems like a person with disproportionately short legs would be an ideal candidate for this - afterwards they’d look ‘normal’. But if you’re already a normally proportioned person you’re going to end up with hands and arm length of somebody 6” shorter.

Sure so I would say in month 1 the sheer amount of tedious and meticulous tasks like lengthening, PT, meeting with doctor, getting used to mobility restrictions is just going to be difficult to do more than that. However, in month 2, you will have the habit of it all and should be fine to work via laptop if you have that option sure. The pain should have faded drastically to a mere few aches throughout the day and besides your PT the rest is up to you how you spend time.

He is right that the new bone will be harder than the old bone after a year or two after consolidation. Especially if you add in weight training as it will increase your bone density. Ex: running is good but weight training will help strengthen bones more (don't have to go as heavy either). As far as taking out the nail technically you don't "have" to but I didn't want titanium or any foreign metal inside for health reasons. My question is, Is 7cm like the best ideal limb lengthening number? Cause I know some people go crazy like 10-12cm. Post-surgery, After the supposed full recovery time, Will A be able to walk normal again? Will A body be able to play sports again, and I mean competitive sports? After consolidation, if A keep rehabbing, will A muscles fully recover after like 2 years? (People say you cannot, but why not I am sure your muscle will adapt, right?). You talked about 6-8 cm being the safety parameters, so that's why I am asking will someone recover full body function? Consider these questions in the best scenario possible, like flexible as hell and athletic pre-surgery.
@Cyborg4Life
3 жыл бұрын
I think 7cm is the typical range most people get done on the femurs yes. You will be able to walk normally again yes, I don't see why not assuming you rehab very well. Same with sports, you can play sports competitively you will just have to adjust to your new body and strengthen it from where you are post-op. Ideally 5-6cm on the femur is a very good chance you can recover all the way, 6-7cm is a good chance and 7-8 is a decent chance. It's harder the more you go and it's harder depending on the person. But being very flexibile and in good shape are huge factors in recovery. Most who do LL are not in as good of shape as they think

I know Dr. Paley had a patient that was in his early 60s and did better than most patients in their 20s. In fact I believe this same guy got 2 more inches in his tibias after that. If you plan on lengthening both tibia and femur, find the initial length of them and the ratio of the tibial length to the femur length. Say its 1.2 tibia: 1 femur. Typically this amount of length is pushing it and usually the max is around 13 maybe 14cm for extremely lucky individuals but usually reserved for those with hypochondroplasia or the such. im 5'7 (170cm) my goal is to reach 6'1 (185cm) or the very least 5'11 (180cm) is it possible?
@paugasolina5048

2 surgeries. one on femur 6-8cm, one one tibia 5-6cm. if you do more you re drasctically increasing the risk of crippling yourself. 180cm is doable. 185cm not necessarily (depends on your physique and body). some people can achieve more some less. Ive heard of people do 20cm but they never returned back to walking. if you dont overdo 10cm is kind of a safe zone with 2 surgeries = double the money

Much better than if you max out at 8cm. Faster recovery, much less chance of complications, and easier time in PT

5 cm seems awfully conservative for tibia lengthening, especially if your femurs and tibias are the same length.
@Cyborg4Life

Yeah it could be for some people. I just know most surgeons have stated that to be the average max for patients who have regained pre-op abilities but even that can be variable
@Magicpickle5

@@Cyborg4Life I've noticed for me that my tibias are 15.5 inches long, so 15% would be equal to about 6 cm and 20% roughly 7.9 cm--what do you think?
@Cyborg4Life
2 жыл бұрын
@@Magicpickle5 Hmm based on the %'s it seems things would work out because you have above average tibia length. But my favorite piece of advice is to "lengthen and observe". So you could shoot for the 6cm possibly a bit more if no problems present but I wouldn't go anywhere past 7cm. I've heard of patients achieve 7cm and do okay but they only did that bone by itself and tissues were lax. Now if you are involved in athletics definitely be cognizant of excessive tension in Achilles and or severe Ballerina foot so athletics aren't affected long term
@Magicpickle5
2 жыл бұрын
@@Cyborg4Life That's my current plan; the ideal goal is 7.5 cm on the tibias, but I only seek to lengthen that much if there are no problems leading up to that point. My primary sources of athleticism are powerlifting and amateur martial arts (Muay Thai, BJJ, and Judo), but I'm primarily concerned about powerlifting.
@Cyborg4Life
2 жыл бұрын
@@Magicpickle5 Yeah that's smart. For powerlifting, the only concern would be biomechanics but once you adapt to that you'll be fine. In terms of muscle power and flexibility that is attainable over time from scaled rehab and strategic rebuilding. But you're a high level athlete so that shouldn't be a worry either

@Cyborg4Life

Possibly 6 inches if you do it with a good surgeon over two lengthenings spaced out and work really hard at rehab.

Hey man! Thank you for the great video! I have a question. I watched a video and they sad if you want to get taller you have give something up. Like athletic performance. Is that true? Or can you still be 100% after surgery for athletic performance? Have a great day!
@Cyborg4Life
4 жыл бұрын
I don't think you have to "give" anything up. I just think there's an adaptation period over the 2-3years following the surgery. If the lengthening patient trains hard enough at learning new limbs and PT they can get used to their old activities only being a bit taller. It's hard to say though as everyone is different.
