Everyone saying the more you drink the better is not right!
In this video, we break some myths around water. We also share some best practices.
Myth 1 - 70-75% of Body is Water.
Reality - An infant's body is 70-75% water. An adult male's body is about 60% water and an adult female's body is about 50-55% water. The percentage reduces with age and disease impact it too.
Myth 2 - Drinking more water causes the skin to glow
Reality - Our skins needs multiple Vitamins (A, D, C, K, E) most of which come from healthy fats and fruits.
Myth 3 - Drinking more water can detoxify you
Reality - Water is important for kidney function as the excess daily waste are removed along with urine. But drinking too much water won't help you to eliminate toxins
Myth 4 - Drink your body's water requirement daily
Reality - You can eat water in forms of Ghiya, Cucumber, Watermelon. These can help you to meet your daily water requirements.
Myth 5 - Drink 4-5 litres every day
Reality - You should consume water based on your weight. An average adult's water requirement is 35 ml/Kg of water. For a child it is 55 ml/Kg. An infant requires about 150 ml/Kg of water. For example, If you weight 80 KG, you need to drink 80*35 = 2800 ml = 2.8 litres of water every day.
Myth 6 - Drink as much Water as you can - the more the better
Reality - Even though there is no side effect of water. But excess water will remove important salts, minerals and electrolytes from your body. It can cause electrolyte imbalance. It can cause Water Retention and can lead to excess weight too.
