I usually spray a light coat of clear before the second color, it seals the tape edge and any bleed with be clear.

Ah man. What an absolute bummer. That layout is super sweet. Going to look great in the new color way.

It's times like this you wish the paint rep was there. I had similar weird things happen on paint. Always a piss off but just try it again. I do like the colours.

I use Testers paint and I manage to get a finish that looks like glass every time with just a little bit of rubbing out of orange peel but I have been doing it since the sixties.

I had mixed a few paints before, and I had the same result sometimes..I guess it depends on the paint, not the company..🤷♂️

Aww man that sucks when you got so much work and time into a project! I know because i just posted what happened to mine. Different but just as bad. I'm not gonna offer advice on how to fix the paint. I used to only use automotive paints and now i have to learn all these new stuff

Yep, I've been pretty successful when it comes to painting a car body, periodically there's an issue or reaction. I tell myself, "The souffle will rise or fall,,, until then,,, there's not a Dang thing you can do about it". Cool layout, I have something similar planned for a Revell 56 Ford. 🙂👍

I miss the models from the seventies.. they were made so much better, even the paints were superior to what's available today.

I hear if you clear coat after taping and before new paint, you don't get bleed through

I would definitely just cut the loses and strip it now. Definitely investing in good tape is a must for good paint jobs. Tamiya and Green stuff world is the best I've used for scale work. Many sizes and regular or vinyl for curves. Super thin, sharp edges, no bleed if sprayed properly. Again starting over with quality tape I think you'll be farther ahead by the end.

Forget the purple bath for now. You’ve gone this far with it and you should be able to fix it. For what it’s worth I suggest wet sand it, then you can try so some fades between all those lines. This will help blend both lines. . .. I would also take Gary Seeds offer by hitting him up. He’s a paint master . Also Make sure your flash times are correct. 10min between coats and when it comes to the clear give it more time. I say 15 - 30 min between coats ( check manufacturer’s recommendation), that way it can air out , dry and you won’t get those dimples in the clear. Good luck champ

I havent tried this yet, but recently saw someone cut very thin strips of tape to do pinstripes similar to low rider paint. wonder if this would seal better? I had a similar issue on my 62 chevy Rex White paint job....not as extensive as this but, yeah. I use Purple power to strip paint, works well.

Sorry for your bad luck. Only way you can fix that is throw it in the stripper tank and start over. Hope you learned a lesson that you can’t mix product first rule of thumb. Good luck.

You can fix what you got but I think it would easier in the long run strip it and start again. I don’t think you be satisfied in the long run with just sanding it. I have been painting models for a very long time. I have had crazy thing like that happened years ago and was never satisfied with the out come from sanding eventually they ended up in the stripper anyway. It’s a pain after all the hard taping work which really looked fine. Sometimes just but to cut bait and run.

Hey fantastic! Smart move. Stay away from Duplicolor clear to hot thinner wise for model applications in my opinion. Gets 2K clear that will work the best. Eastwood makes a good 2K in the rattle can that I here works real nice. I have never used it so don’t know first hand. It might be worth looking into or any 2K would do the job I am sure. Myself I have always used PPG Shopline clear that always works with great gloss.
