But then on the 8th days I somehow feel a bit pain in my ankle and knees it's not that painfull but whenever I try to run or walk downstairs it gets hurt. Was that because of my shoes? I mean my shoes is really tight that there are barely space left on the edge of my big toes, could that might be the reason or it's just because I have just started running after probably forever.

Hi Matt great video! At 1:43 you are saying to leave between 1/2 and 1'' between longest toe and end of shoe. Wouldn't that make for a loose fit? 0.5 inch is one size bigger in US size while 1 inch is 2-2.5 sizes bigger in US size. Looking forward to your response!
@its_Matt_B_
2 жыл бұрын
The idea behind having your running shoes slightly longer than your longest toe is to give your feet room to move slightly in the shoe. I don't know if you've ever worn shoes where your toes touch the end, but it can lead to trauma from the repetitive movement of your toes against the front of the shoe. Think black toenails and blisters. Also, our feet can expand slightly when running. The extra room allows this without discomfort. As far as sizing goes, yes, it may very well mean buying a larger shoe. There's nothing wrong with getting a bigger shoe, especially if it leads to comfort while running, which is what we all want! I've found different brands size differently, so it's best to try a new shoe first before committing to keeping it.

Have you been fitted by a professional? Perhaps in a shoe store rather than just a running store. I am a woman who wears U.S. size 8.5 B width in good quality dress shoes. My last two pairs of Asics Nimbus were 9.5. I had not purchased a new pair in a very long time, but I wanted to get out and be more active again, so I ordered the Gel Nimbus 24 in 9.5 regular. I could barely get my feet into them. I then tried a 10 Wide and a 10.5 Wide. I was stunned that even the 10 Wide felt too short. I ended up with a 10.5 Wide. I could not believe I had to size up two whole size from my dress shoe size. Historically, Asics run narrow and short, but this is ridiculous! If someone told me in advance that I would need a massive 10.5 Wide, I would never have believed it. They make my feet look huge, but my feet do not feel constricted, and I have a thumb's width between the tip of my big toe and the tip end of the shoe, so the 10.5 Wide must be the correct fit. "Shocked" does not even begin to describe how I feel.....

@@its_Matt_B_ I used to walk between 3 and 5 miles per day about 5 days a week at a very nice park not too far from my home, but I more or less stopped all exercise about 7 years ago after my little girl passed. I hardly went out at all, and then Covid hit in 2020, and that was one more reason to stay indoors. Any time I did go to the park with my dog to walk, it was a zoo. Suddenly, because of Covid, people were coming out of the woodwork so to speak to spend time at what used to be a pretty quiet park, so that was one more reason to stay home. I planned to start walking more beginning last Autumn after the terrible heat and humidity of Summer had passed, but before I could follow through on that commitment to myself, I was forced to move from my 2/1 house with garage (owner turned it into an Airbnb) to a one room apartment. Now, I have no choice but to take my dog for at least 3 walks per day since we no longer have a yard, so I had to buy a new pair of shoes. Walking on concrete in my old Nimbus 10's were killing me as they are totally clapped out. I always liked Nimbus because of the great cushioning. I have worn Asics since the 1980s. This is the first time I had to settle for a pair two whole sizes larger than my high quality dress shoes, though. There is something vaguely insulting about that! (LOL) Traditionally, Asics run narrow and a bit short, but this is ridiculous! The 24 in 10.5 Wide look huge on my feet! I read the new 25's will not come out before late March for some reason. Each year they usually come out in January. Maybe there was still a glut of 24's on the market they hoped to shift? Anyway, I did not want to wait that long. Plus, I knew I would end up spending at least $40 more for the 25's. So, I decided to buy the 24's.

What do I do if I’m between a 13 and 14 in most shoes. 13 fits but only maybe half of a thumb width left in the front. 14 gives me too much space as I have the issue of narrow feet. So a lot of shoes I get hot spots on the bottom of my feet. Don’t really have a toe issue in 13s.

When it comes down to it, comfort is the only thing that matters. If a size 13 feels best, it doesn't really matter that there is only half a thumb width left. Go with comfort every single time! 🙌🏽

I don't know if it's because I did strength exercises on my legs 2 days ago and they still hurt or if it's because I need to wear them longer to adjust them to my foot shape. Has anyone else who has Nike Vaporfly Next% 3 had a hard time adapting to this model? I used to run with the Next% 2, but now the 3% feel less cushioned than the 2%.

While they can be applied to everyday trainers without much trouble, it’s important to do what is most comfortable for you. Our feet often expand a little when running, so that’s the main reason for the additional space at the front.

So I buy size 15 witch is 12.2 inches long ....witch is only a half inch of space in the shoe....1 inch is way too much if I added a full inch I'd be wearing size 17 lol....I been wearing size 14 -15 my whole life and my foot is only 113/4 inches long with a half inch of room max...witch is accurate....I prefer size 14 there's lil to no room in them..but goin by the half inch rule they say 15....

Hi Kathy! This is a curious problem, especially because your second toes are shorter. I think a podiatrist will be your best bet to get a legitimate reason for your second toes hurting. Your 880s have Fresh Foam, which is lovely and soft, and I wonder if because of that softness your toes are working too much. I got a question? Am in cross country and we practice a lot at school during different terrains and hills, and on a track meet we run 3 miles but during that my calve always hurts or around my calves and idk if its the shoe that am wearing or if pain in the calves is just normal pain to experience

In a nutshell, pain like you're describing isn't normal! Discomfort is somewhat normal, but only you can tell the difference! Can you try different shoes? Do you notice running on one surface hurts more than others?

Is it normal to have a slight heel movement? tried UK6 it’s a bit right, UK 6.5 fits nice but I can feel slight heel movement with it

I can’t say it’s normal. Any heel slip will produce friction, which could result in blisters. I’d suggest trying another brand. They all fit a little different so I’m sure you’ll find something that doesn’t slip at all! Good luck!
