I’m watching this video when pedaling on my exerciser and working on my PC. General social isolation has been wonderful in my retirement. I’ve been able to do things that there wasn’t time for and spend as many hours as possible on working on my interests. Yes, I have a few friends and family members to occasionally talk to and spend tine with. I never feel lonely at home, too busy. Sometimes I feel a bit lonely when I’m with others because they aren’t really interested in my interests.

As an introvert that regenerates sanity while being home alone, I laugh at this notion.

i moved off grid, 21 years ago.🤣🤣🤣🤣 not a single regret. at 70 years of age, i have a rich, and rewarding social life, mostly thru correspondence, but solid freinds while few are better than quantity of city denizens. as a potter, welder, and truck mechanic im still learning everyday. 😁 to me that is the fountain of youth!

"Eleanor Rigby" is one of my faves for sure, but the lyrics didn't connect with me until later in life, it was an important realization for me.

What about those that have no friends, how do they combat loneliness? Since the number of friendless people is increasing every year.

A follow-up would be good if it could address some of the cogent observations in comments.

This channel is like something good with this world, and it hardly got views, but maybe that's a good thing. About social isolation.. people just need more sex, and conversations. A partner, and yeah.. It's not that hard to understand that single people that don't get laid are miserable, and when they get some, they feel happier. etc. Plus some good conversations. But its the body contact that also matters. Just having respect for one another and meeting up regularly. Like some sex buddy, or partner etc. Like, some money to do stuff with friends, some hobbies, and a female, if you're a dude like i am. I have not had time for that lately and that's the only reason i'm miserably at the moment tss. It's probably the same with many many dudes out there. I was gonna focus on anti-aging, but this comment is random. Dudes without a female and sex are more lonely and miserable. "Easy solutions." Also, A.I and sex dolls will not replace that.

Do any of the studies you mentioned control for age? Older people are more likely to lack social conections plus be lonelier and due to their advanced age there likely to suffer things like heath attacks. WHich may show up in observational studies as a huge association between loneliness and poor health outcomes idk. Im very skeptical this increase in mortality would for example apply to a 21 year loner.

YO ELANOR!!! HAVE YOU READ MUCH OF NASA'S EARLY ISOLATION STUDIES?? IT WAS BRUTAL! 🤣🤣🤣 AS FOR ME THOMAS AQUINAS HAD A LOT TO SAY ABOUT SOLITUDE! BUT IT BOILED DOWN TO "FOCUS". ISOLATION GIVES UNLIMITED POWER TO FOCUS, AND THEN TO LEARN! 🤔😁😉

Am I right all human studies mentioned here are epidemiological? Then why is there talk about causation? Epidemiology doesn't determine causation.
