Thanks everyone for the kind comments! I am so glad this video has helped so many people during this challenging time. Millions of people are suddenly working from home, and need some help to make their home computer better. This video can help! Also, I just released a new video that shows how you can use a spare laptop as a second monitor for your main computer. Nothing to buy. No software to install. Just configure your computers the right way and you can use your laptop as a second monitor for your desktop or main laptop computer. Check that video here: kzitem.info/news/bejne/q4R9l6d5i5uorKA Some people have asked what to do if they don't have two video ports on their computer. If you have a desktop, you can always upgrade your video card. If you have a laptop, that's probably not an option, so you may be able to use a USB port as your second video port. To do that, you'll need a USB video adapter that converts output from a USB port to a video signal you can they connect to a second monitor. Here's an affiliate link to many different adapters. You will need to know which version of USB (USB 2 or 3) port you will be plugging into and what type of monitor cable connection you are plugging in. www.amazon.com/gp/search?ie=UTF8&tag=nerdsidekickyt-20&linkCode=ur2&linkId=fba4b3bdcbb2b36c9c11e4717450117f&camp=1789&creative=9325&index=pc-hardware&keywords=usb%20to%20video%20adapter

Hi Fred, thank you for this very helpful guide. However, I tried to click "detect" under display settings in order for my second monitor to get detected. But when I clicked it, nothin happened. I also went to device manager also to enable the display adapters (only one display adapters available), it had been enabled already. I hope you can help. This is actually for my work from home set up that I need to do.

Hello. I'd like to set up a dual monitor system to extend my display & work on different independent applications on each screen from the same desk top computer. My desktop tower has only one VGA port which is already being used by my current monitor. The only other ports I have available are USB ports and a single old school serial port (& no HDMI ports). Is there a specific adapter that I can use to do a dual monitor extended display? I thought the answer would be a VGA Y Splitter Cable but apparently from what I've been reading the VGA Y Splitter Cable will only allow for dual monitor "mirroring/exact duplicate displaying" which is useless for what I need. Please help!
