What a GEM of a tip! I went to Wal-Mart and found a bottle for about $9 (Canada), just tried it on some plastic spoons I had primed and painted in Metallic colors I’ve been using (another good tip I saw on the KZitem) I sprayed at 15psi, and I did light coats on some and heavy coats on a couple (dripping wet) seems to work well and smells okay too! And I like that it’s a recent post which made it easier to find the right stuff! Thanks for the tip and instruction from a new again model builder!

I have used this future floor wax for a long time. This is good stuff. Sadly pledge stopped production on it, now others have started to use quick shine floor wax. The wax is made to walk on so it does have hardeners and it does have great protection on models. I never airbrush mine, i use a soft , new , wide brush and put it on heavy. I use this on the entire body top to bottom front to back. I do this when the model is 100% done and i go over it all , glass and everything. Also i used it alot for glue for the headlights and such.

@CustomScaleModels

I use a 0.3 needle but I’ve also have used a 0.5 and it worked the same. It will dry anywhere to 30-40 minutes but depends on how many coats. I usually wait 6-8 hours before buffing. I meant to add that in the video but forgot and remembered after I uploaded it.

While the airbrush is sitting there for 40 minutes, wouldn't the floor gloss dry and clog the nozzle?

Very good point. I use the hair dryer in between and it only takes about 6ish minutes to do 3- 4 coats but before I figured out to the use the hair dryer I would only put enough in the airbrush cup for a coat then sprayed a small amount of distilled water threw the airbrush to clean it. but the floor gloss is mostly Water anyways so it want interfere with it. But I never had 1 problem with it clogging then just cleaned before I put it up.

Pledge doesn’t make a car bright it just makes them shine. If you use a bright paint then pledge will enhance the paint but it will not make a paint brighter. It could seem that way in the video because of the camera and studio lighting. The paint is bright but the lights make it a little brighter

Nice work, and I never thought of using Dryer Sheets for Buffing. In my Booth (I had it custom made for painting large Automotive parts as well as my Model Kits. Air/Paint is pulled out of the top by a large Fan (Designed for Cooling those huge computers) through a stack Furnace filters three or four high. I put a layer of used Dryer sheets between them. (Filter, Dryer Sheets, Filter, Dryer Sheets, and etc) When the first filter gets full... I remove "It" with the layer of Dryer Sheets on top it, and throw the out. The next filter, and dryer sheets get moved into the first position. Finally, I add a layer of dryer sheets, and a New filter to the top of the stack. I'm Genetically incapable of using an Airbrush. I've tried... Several times. The Airbrush(s) never survives. What if I used a New, and Unused Spray bottle as instead? Applying Pledge to Boxy Model Bodies seem easy enough, but what about a '41 Lincoln Continental? There's a lot of Curves.
@CustomScaleModels
3 жыл бұрын
The dryer sheet thing as filters is pretty brilliant, I wouldn’t have thought of using them as a filter. But I don’t think the spray bottle would work but the floor gloss goes on really well With a brush. You can use a fine foam brush and apply thin coats going the same direction do not go back and fourth with the brush. Let dry 30 minutes between coats. It goes on curvy models just as well as a boxy models. it’s self leveling as well. Just don’t go over board brushing it on and it’ll turn out good

I don’t know about ceramic but it does seal wood but you have to re apply it every couple months so I would not use it for that. For how much a bottle of pledge gloss cost you can buy a can of Polyurethane and it works much better for wood.
