Great video. Nice thing about my Operator career is that I get to cross the street from my house to the plant. Save a fortune in gas, and get asked to work a lot of over time. I love the WWTP business and it is pretty much recession proof if you license up and continue learning for you younger guys looking for a career. It may not be glorious, but I guarantee you that every day is different and you get to solve problems which is pretty rewarding. Keep the plant happy and in balance you have a career with great rewards and benefits. You may not become a millionaire, but you can live comfortably.

Very true. But sometimes its hard to just "get in the field" unless you know someone already in the industry. I find that your chances of getting hired are greater the higher level of certificate you pass.

@R9G5V6 No, they do not provide masks to prevent smelling odors. The only time a mask is provided is when you need to enter an area that has a hazardous atmosphere. If you cant handle the smell, then this job is not for you.

@khoachino Did you call them? They have no idea what theyre talking about half the time. Theyre website still says that all 5 of them are 9 CEU's. Doesnt matter anyways even if you are right. If you're right then that means 12 x 3 = 36 plus 6 x 2 = 12 for a grand total of 48 CEU's... 3 more than 9 x 5 = 45 CEU's

@twtmei88 I have met plenty of female operators. But, I would say its tougher. The job is physically demanding. I think someone with your college background would be very suited for a lab position at a treatment plant.

@twtmei88 Where do you live? CA? If so keep an eye on CWEA.org job postings, BC water jobs, and Calopps websites for new jobs in CA. If you live out of state I don't know of any websites for jobs outside of CA. You should try to get your Lab Analyst certificate from CWEA (if you live in CA). It will make you a more desirable candidate.

Hello I've seen your videos on KZitem and find them to be very helpful and that's why I write you in regards to my situation I currently work for Los Angeles county as a warehouse worker and every once in a while they open up the waste water plant operator position which requires the grade 2 certification and I'm very interested in it and ambitious to take the courses but my problem is I'm not willing to leave my employer in order to get experience somewhere else as I'm already vested with Los Angeles county. What would you suggest? Thanks your time is greatly appreciated.

Don't waste ur time going to school for this. Get in the field 1st as an OIT otherwise it's a waste of time. Doesn't matter what Grade u pass, u can't be certified without the experiences. It must be experience from an POTW Treatmeant Plant otherwise it doesn't count.

@WhyUNoDie
3 жыл бұрын
@@quekoh5410Network! Network! Network! Know someone that work there that can pull some strings that will help you get a job there as an OIT. No experiences needed, just as long as you have a high school diploma. Take the OIT TEST within 3 months. Your employer will help you passed that test. It's an easy test if you study for it. If you can't go through this path, do something else. There always something else better as a career. There is industry wastewater which paid almost as well. I did that for more then 15 years before becoming a chemist. Indian reservations also have treatment plant and some casinos have water and wastewater treatment plant that meet POTW Plant.
