I just rescued a bunny on Monday. She's about a year old and was spade a month before I got her. When I brought her home she instantly took a liking to my yorkie (I knew the yorkie liked bunnies prior to getting one). I'm extremely happy that my dog can go into her pen and just hang out and the bunny doesn't mind her being in there. Today she even binkied around my dog and my dog was like freaking out trying to figure out what was going on lol. Just thought I'd share this :)

+Hamsters Minecraft And More I don't believe females can, only because (I believe) male rabbits do the mating, not the other way around. Don't quote me on that, because I'm not sure. :) Besides, male, not only in rabbits but other animals, prove to other males they're the 'top dog', if you know what I mean.

I have two rabbits, and they were not from the same litter, but lived with each other when we adopted them both. Male and female, so we had to separate them once they could mate, and until they got spayed and neutered, then when they healed, we put them together again. We don’t have a cage, just a pen, and when they want out, we lift the pen up so they can go out, but sometimes I carry them out for a little pet pat, and they run around to exercise. They bonded fairly easily, so I think it just has to do with personality of rabbit. Sometimes they go together quickly, sometimes not. :>

I'm planning on getting a new bunny to bond with my single male, his brother passed away a few months ago after being separated because of fighting (the one who passed away suddenly started attacking Peter and not allowing him to eat to a dangerous level, so I had to separate for Peter's safety and health). Now that he has been alone for a few months and is back to full health and a healthy weight I think it would be better to give him some new company before I'm in college and I'm home less often than now. this video has been a huge help to me as it is my first time trying to bond two rabbits together

I was wondering cuz I haven't seen this address yet. But if you're bringing a new bunny in the house, should you bond with that bunny first and then the two bunnies? The bunny we brought home is very freaked out and I'm not sure if that's going to make it harder or not? So I was trying to figure out if we should get her used to us and then introduce her to the bun that we already have or just do a trial by fire?

I would love to stress bond my rabbits. I’m lost though. my first time introducing my bunny to my new bunny, the one i’ve had for a while literally lost her cool. It wasn’t in a stressful environment so she wasn’t scared. But she immediately attacked my new bunny and pulled out a load of fur. I would want to put them in a carrier together in my car and drive, but i’m too scared i’m gonna leave the car with one bunny in the lightest of terms. someone please give me advice for this

try something other than the car technique, put them in a tub or small enclosure you have direct access to in case you will have to separate them.
@LawleyMark
4 жыл бұрын
Maybe have someone else drive while you have the rabbit carrier on the car floor and are ready to separate the rabbits with gloved hands or a clipboard. If things get really bad, a separate carrier-even if just a cardboard one-might be necessary. The drive can be just in a residential area and not far from home just in case it’s best to turn back.

Great video- this gives a lot of helpful info! I was beginning to bond my rabbits several months ago, but stopped because I realized I needed to get Ducky fixed first. The first time I tried to get him fixed, our appointments kept getting messed up, and we had to drive to the vet's office about 3 times before it worked out, but when they sedated Ducky, his heart rate dropped so they were unable to operate. The suggested we bring him back in around a year, which is what I'm planning on doing. In the meantime, they live alone, but I'm looking forward to starting the process again. I have one question: when I was bonding them before, they grunted at each other a lot, which is pretty normal. Although, one of my rabbits, Sprinkles, started grunting at me, too. Every time I would feed him, or reach inside his cage he would grunt at me. He never did this before... Why did he start now? I don't want the bonding between the rabbits to ruin his bond with me- he's always been so sweet and affectionate, and it sort of worries me.
@101rabbits
8 жыл бұрын
It's hard to say why he has all the sudden started. It could be because he learned it from your other rabbit, or he's afraid that every time you go by him you will bond them. Don't worry. Once they are bonded together they will probably love each other and you. Until then, make sure not to put your hands in his cage while he's in there. Ebony grunts at me all the time though. Some rabbits are just more sassy. Don't take it personally.

I have bonded my mini lop doe Blueberry with another mini lop, and I wish I didn't bother bonding her with another rabbit. We had such a wonderful relationship with her, and that's why we thought she also needed to have a relationship with her own kind. She always looked so joyful. However, we saw a big change in her personality after the bond. She just became a follower, and it's very sad to see. I'm not going to separate them, but I just wanted to send a warning because all you hear about is its good for the bunny.

Wow they are NOT KIDDING when they say there can be injuries during bonding. Be very careful and do have a dust pan and heavy duty leather gloves at the ready. Thankfully my two buns were separated by wire but the new unneutered bun still tried to get a chunk out of Benjamin, my neutered bunny. No worries though, he got a chunk out of my hand instead when I pulled him away. I don't care, it was way better than harming Benjamin. Can't wait to make that neutering appointment! I will certainly give the bonding attempt at least one month after BunBun's surgery. Just gave him a stuffed animal bunny to tear apart if he feels the need. Seems to like it, it's keeping him busy. ; )

We adopted a female spayed bunny today as a friend for our male neutered bunny. They are currently in separate spaces. When I put them together very briefly, the first thing that happened was the male chasing her to mount her. She wasn't fond of this. There was a lot of thumping. I ended the session fast because I was concerned for her. She is actually still healing from her spay surgery. I assume it would be better if we waited a little longer for her to be more healed first? I was too helicopter mom during that... lol

Thank you so much for this informative step by step video. We’ve had Booger and Bean for just about a year now and we adopted them bonded and spayed. They seem to have fallen out of their bond so I’m hoping that these steps will help rekindle their love for each other :-) One question I have is around neutral areas. We live in a small apartment in which they occupy half the living room. We don’t have any other areas that would function as a neutral area other then the bath tub. For the cementing process would it work to shrink down their normal enclosure and grow it from there?

I have 3 rabbits, 2 does and 1 buck. All 3 in different cages/playpens/condos. I do have a new 12 week coming home from a rescue. 1 doe is 5 years old and the other is 7 months old. They have regular play dates already. So I am planning on slowly bonding my 7 m. old with the new baby, since she has had a few other playmates and has shown very good signs of liking other rabbits. Is there any other suggestions to make this stage go properly. I am planning on eventually keeping them in a play area together, but making a new bigger one in the process of the bonding. I have had play dates before but never bonded a rabbit to live together. Oh and I really enjoy all your videos. They have helped me out a lot in the last year. Thank you very much. The male tried to show dominance in the beginning but is it a bad sign that the girl was thumping? Not sure if it was because of me. Other than that she seemed chill, like she would lay down and sniff him. At the end of it they had their faces close together. I really need to learn to be more calm too, I always think worst case scenario like they will fight. But we are hoping for a second date to see if they still like/remember each other. Hi there. I was wondering if you could help us. We have 3 rabbits, after they bonded they've been living together in relative peace for 2 years. However, a couple of days ago there was a brawl, possibly becauce on of the buns got sick and was weaker. We took it to the vet for 10 hrs. After the bun came back, everybody started to fight. The buns that fight most are towo females, the third bun is a male. All are spayed & neutered. The most aggressive bun, the white female, ferociously marks terrain and attacks the (sick?) female. They can fight tooth and nail, but usually the sick female wants to back off and just let go, but the white female is relentless. Should we bond the buns in pairs, or let all three bond at the same time? The problem is, when all three are out, the white female even attacks the male who used to be on top of the hierarchy and served as a police officer! Now it is only us who can act as the police, but we're worried that one of the buns might get seriously wounded:(

@101rabbits I have two female rabbits, both around 8 months and both from the same litter. They used cuddle and spend all day together but one morning (we try to free roam them best we can) they had a large fight and completely unbonded. Since then we have moved and kept them in seperate hutches, taking turns letting them out. There is still alot of agression between them but thats through cage bars so im assuming that will be frustration more than anything. Due to lack of funds we are getting one of the girls spayed end of this month and are looking to get the other done mid next month. My concerns with rebonding is that they are immediately agressive under any contact with each other and in stressful enviroments (like vet runs in seperate carriers) they thump at each other whenever they see or smell eachother. We also don't have any neautrel territory as we have a 1 bed flat that they free roam. Have you got any additional tips in rebonding them as its heartbreaking keeping what used to be best freinds apart. Cheers.

@@rbasi25 hi, unfortunately we could never rebond them. Spoke to behaviourists and was pretty much told that they won't get along ever again, they are in a large dog pen each that are connected so still have the ability to see, sniff and groom eachother which does happen but the moment they are given unrestricted access to eachother it's immediate fighting. There's no stress from either of them about the situation and they do spend time together against the pen bars, laying together and occasional grooming but that's as far as it gets. Sad really but there's only so much I can do for them and they seem happy the way things are.

My mom got me two bunnies and I'm trying to do my research and do what is best for them. I put them together in my room with close supervision and they were basically exploring and turning their backs on one another, and occasionally sniffing one another curiously. One was even binkying! They got pretty close and they were fine with the other sticking their face into their fur before they started chasing one another and I put them back in their respective cages. My parents aren't too keen on spending the money for getting them spayed. Do you think it's necessary for these two?

I just adopted a female and already have a fixed male. We have the x-pens next to each other but they keep sniffing each other and then the female starts kicking and biting the x-pen. And I’m a bit worried that they aren’t gonna be a match..... can someone help me out? Edit: Im sitting next to their cage and they just sniffed each other but then moved on and didn’t wanna bite each other anymore

You should try to Bond Sterling with the others, one by one and in another space like your bed Where you Can sit with Them and comfort Them, i have 5 bonded Rabbits. You should use your hands to stop Them in stead as it comforts the bunnies you might get bitten, but it's okay if they get Bonded for it, it's really helpful to just sit with Them and cuddle. And move their cage really close so they Can interract with eachother, and please dont stress Bond them as it Can hurt then mentally and they Can get scared of you easly. As i Said i have 5 bonded bunnies and i did all This with then and it Worked really Well and the Best part is it took under a week for each bunny, BTW if you try This please make a video about it

I am in the process of prepping my spayed female rabbit for bonding. I bought a realistic stuffed rabbit to put in her cage. Out of curiosity, I wanted to see how she would react if I gave the stuffed rabbit attention. If I pet the stuffed animal, my rabbit becomes aggressive, and wants me to stop, and give her the attention. She will climb on top of the stuffed animal so I can't pet it or she will pounce on me with her paws to make me stop. Is this a sign that she will have a jealousy issue if I get another rabbit?

My bunnys are separated using a fence at the moment. One has just been spayed and the other is getting done soon. They sometimes nibble each other but it has not been bad. They lay next to each other too. Today the spayed one (girl) has been chasing (with ears down) the one who has been there first (boy). It has come over all of a sudden and I'm a bit worried. Fingers crossed they will be bonded soon

I've been trying to introduce a boy to an existing girl. When they first met she would always go straight for him and the fur would fly. He's quite timid so I think they both panic a bit. But she always sits outside his house and he sits the other side of the door to the cage haha. We'll get there eventually, thanks for the video!

@@hestia4719 They sit next to each other all day cuddled up now. I think it was possibly a territorial/dominance thing. She was poorly so had to be indoors for a couple of weeks, so we let him explore the area and put his scent around. After that she just accepted that he existed and it was as if they had never fought!

I have two male rabbits and they were perfectly bonded till I got them neutered. Then, after we had them separated for 1 week because that's what the vet said to do and now they attack each other. It's been like this for months now and I've tried to bond them myself with no progress. I have there pens to next to each other and they sometimes groom each other, but anytime there together, they fight. I've been thinking to go get them bonded by a professional but I'm not sure. Does anyone have tips on what to do?

I'm enjoyed watching you tips in this video. I have a question though. I'm in the pre bonding stage with my bunnies and am trying to research and learn as much as I can before I actually start bonding them. I have 2 Netherland dwarfs, one girl, one boy, both neutered/spayed. Each around 2-3 pounds. They are both around 1 and a half years old and have been together for around a year of that time. A few days ago we got a third bunny; a New Zealand overweight neutered male. Probably around 13 pounds if not more. I have been putting their cages side by side and the little girl is very interested and starts smelling around and looking at the other bunny, the little dwarf male doesn't seem to care about the big bunny. One time I put the big bunny in his cage, and let the little ones run around his and the girl dwarf started trying to squeeze her paws in between the cage to try to scratch at the big one. I immediately removed them and since then have not attempted anything further other than leaving their cages side by side. I have been watching videos such as yours, and now am even more worried about bonding them, because of their big size difference. I've noticed that humping is a normal way of bonding, but if a 13+ pound rabbit starts humping a small 2 pound dwarf, I'm no sure if that's going to be okay, or how harmful that might be for her if he tries to get on top of her. My question basically is, do you think it will work out to bond the 3, or do you think it will not work out because of their size differences? Thanks in advance. :)

The reaction you got is not surprising as you placed the rabbits together in a space that was already "owned" by one rabbit. When bonding you need to bond in a neutral territory meaning none of your rabbits have ever been in that location before. That's why bathtubs are useful as many times your rabbits haven't been in the bathtub before. I would try bonding again in a neutral territory. Keep sessions short, if humping seems like it's hurting the rabbit, push the rabbit off. Otherwise try to keep your hands out. Also force snuggles are useful especially when trying to end on a good note. Also when bonding, I would suggest bonding all of them together at once. Not just 2 at a time.

My 2 female Netherlands were spayed, the day after the spay one of them starting to chew the other rabbit's wound so we seperated them and had them in joining cages, just so she wouldn't try to open the wound of the other one. We'd have the out and about running around all fine but one day one rabbit jumped into the other rabbits cage and they had a fight. Since then we have had issues. We have essentially been re bonding them and for the past couple of weeks it has gone okay (the early days they kept having fights when out together)- just taking it slow now. But a few times one rabbit has jumped in the other's cage and a fight has happened again. There is part of me which is feeling like we are not going to be able to get them back to being friends that live together again.

Hi, We love all your videos, we are trying to bond two male rabbits, both mini lops. Billy is two years old and Reggie is nine months old both have had the snip and we waited 9 weeks before we started with them on the dining room table and we stroked them both sat next to each other. This seemed to go well and Reggie grooms Billy and does put his head under Billys but Billy will not groom him, they are quite calm sat next to each other. We then tried a very small cardboard box on the floor but Billy did seem scared and as soon as we put Reggie in they just went for each other badly, so we tried the table for a few more days. Then we decided instead of a box to try a small wire pen size 35 x 35cm with towels round it and also in a neutral place but the same thing happened; they just were constantly going for each other and fur was coming out of both so we had to take them out ... Can you please help us, we are desperate to get them bonded so they each have company. To add; they are both house rabbits and both have a cage in the kitchen with a run each, they keep looking at each other through their runs (they have lived like this for 9 months) so every day they are in their runs inside the house next to each other. So to reiterate, they are ok on the table when we put them next to each other and stroke them and sometimes take our hands off them and they seem ok for 10 mins or so. But we have only tried the 35 x 35 pen once so perhaps we should try it again? Its distressing for us to see them go for each other and both rabbits seemed petrified after their scuffle.

Ok so I got 3 bunny named Bugs Ceaser and Tobias(Tobi) and ceaser and bugs are twin brothers. Ceaser and Tobi was bonded but recently had a fight and Bugs hate Tobi. I feel the Tobi is the problem because he broke up Bugs and Ceaser’s relationship and Tobi is so annoying, He jumps out when we pick him up and he wiggles out because he needs a bigger cage but we can’t afford one right now so we put he in a Guinea pigs cage for now I don’t know what to do and there all hard to bond and I made a big mistake of getting Tobi when he isn’t neutered , I don’t have enough space to bond them and I don’t have enough money to buy an x-pen so I VERY lost

Däñg it’s Fushia you shouldn’t have got rabbits if you can’t afford it. If you cannot give a rabbit proper care then don’t get one! When bonding a trio, it’s normal for the two already bonded rabbits to fight each other as they are trying to show their dominance to Tobias. It’s normal.

So, I’ve had my 2 rabbits for three years now. Both female and both lion heads. And they keep in bonding and unbonding. Recently I have put both of them in a different room and a different cage and one has gotten berry aggressive and territorial. This one has pretty much always be the aggressor. Do I still do this process or should I modify it because they already know each other?

after each bonding session do you put the buns back in their respective pens or switch them those times? Then once the space is the "desired" size then do not put them back into their pens, do I need two separate litters or one bigger litter for them to share?

Do you have any tips for getting your parents to allow you to get more than one rabbit? I have one, and he's getting neutered in April. But I really really want a second one. My mom says that it's more likely for us to get another dog than another rabbit and she always told me we'd never get another dog. Help! Any tips?

I’m getting two new male bunnies soon. They’ll be neutered on August 12 and I’ll get to take them home a few days after. They are not bonded and don’t know each other yet. How long should I wait after their neutered to prebond them? I’ve read you should wait 4-6 weeks to bond them, but I’d like to know when I should start prebonding. Should I let them settle for a week in their pens side by side without seeing eachother? Or will they get too territorial over their pens? Should I give them a day and then start switching toys and blankets in their pens? I’m not sure because only days after the neuters they will still have those hormones, so they might not be happy about the prebonding. Please help. Thank you.

I have two males bunnys neutered, the start fight after I neutered the youngest one... they cannot even see each other and fight. they used to have this bonding process where one jump another, and they was bonding, but after neutered the youngest I have to start the process all over again...when I try to put them together in a neutral zone they fight and I don't know what else to do, I don't want to get rid of one, I already try with fruit and food they like, and they fight anyway...my older bunny( the agressive one) start a treatment of bach flowers, and I hope it works because I'm desperate,

Is it alright if I get two bunnies who are different breeds? (Example:Netherland Dwarf and French Lop) should I get two bunnies at once or should I buy one first and then introduce it to another one? I’m interested in getting a bunny and hopefully my parents will let me get one this year
