This was implied in the comments but just to make sure - the IOC home and course system and DBUS are included with the DR16 receiver, as well as the return home when low voltage feature, correct? Also many thanks for the entire playlist of F450 videos, does a great job and explains everything thoroughly.

Yes if you are using DBus or SBus its all through the one connection (X2) but if you had a standard receiver you would use X1 channel for controlling the gimbal tilt. F2 port is for the gimbals connection. You dont need roll control.

Why ESCs not on top of arms? It would look good (IMHO) and also allow you to mount all antennas under each arm - maximal distance apart. E.g. Spektrum receiver + satellite + telemetry box + potentially video transmitter. Visibility of antennas below the body is better, I assume?

Iv the f550 kit jus started building. was tempted to fold and strap the speed controller wires instead of trimming but thinking it could create some field interference when folded. For insulating the soldered contacts on can use clear nail polish or possibly just pvc glue dried over it.
@MarionvillemodelsMultirotors

+whiteknight7 I prefer the cables trimmed for neatness. I do now insulate the connections with Starbright Liquid Electrical Tape.

+Marionville Multirotors i folded it in case i decide to upgrade to a heavy lift attachment so then arms would be longer. Btw my naza lite kit 3 volt supply unit is only one cable. What is the norm wiring to power both the controller and the reciever? Do I put it in the naza x3 and then how do i jump it to the radio recvr? Im using the fs9xr which has a power jack.
@whiteknight7wayne493
8 жыл бұрын
+Marionville Multirotors you can insulate with regular pvc glue and let it dry or clear nail polish...tho the latter may dry and crack eventually and should be inspected or reapplied. Can use a high peformance epoxy but with be a dog to remove if you want to unsolder later

It is not an issue to leave the bare ground wires from the ESC cable long. It is ground, it won't do anything if it touches anything. Just keep hot wwires from touching it. I don't like the way he put those cables, looks like it can cause undue stress on the solder joints. If it bothers you, you can heat shrink it after soldering and leave it longer, leave some strain relief in the cable

I'm relatively new to quadcopters (I've owned a small one for several months) and I want to.... step it up! A lot of people are saying this quad is a great way to get into aerial filming, and that it's preferable to the Phantom. I'm definitely not going with the Phantom, as it seems overpriced and I'm worried about potential fly aways. I've soldered before, but only a few times. How easy is this to build and will I be worrying about fly aways with this quad? Thanks!

I'm doing the same thing right now. My F450 kit will arrive in a week. Was thinking about getting phantom, but turns out at work I know some people who build drones, and the word is for less money you can get better machine if you build yourself. There's extra fun of building, it's much more customizable, you can go with highly programmable chip like Ardupilot, and you learn while you select components.
