I lube with 80/90 transmission oil (very cheap) using a small squeeze bottle with a cone resealable tip, it gets into the bushes through capillary action and that which is excessive stays on the outside of the bushes until it flies off due to centripital force from riding taking any dirt or grime with it because oils have detergents and dispersants in them. When you buy a new chain the box packaging has printed a recommendation to use 80/90 gear oil. After a mile or two I stop the bike and give the chain and wheel a wipe with a rag. It all just wipes straight off leaving a clean lubricated chain using no harsh chemicals .

Don’t use brake parts cleaner. I’m going through comments to warn people of this clown. Use “clean up” chain cleaner. Blue and yellow can. Use “maxima chain wax” in the brown can. The cleanup will clean the seals and get everything out (dust that is, let’s some grease stay in it depending on how much you use) and the wax will keep it lubed up. Yet another incorrect "instructional" video that will cost viewers time and money. Brake cleaner is the dumbest and quickest way to destroy your expensive D.I.D. or EK chain. Brake cleaner will destroy any type of rubber component and will eventually strip away the white lithium grease sealed within the orings or xrings of the chain. Brake cleaner should only be used on all metal components; i.e. brakes. A toothbrush will take an unnecessarily long time compared to a chain brush. Use kerosene and a chain brush to remove grime from the chain. Then, wipe and lube following the bike manufacturer's recommendation in the service manual.

I do my chain every week. One can will not last 5 years. Yes you can get 10 years from 2 cans . But your not using your bike.

They make a 10 dollar brush that cleans 3 sides and you can just dump the brush and spin the wheel.....

tried one, the bristles were so stiff they ripped my X rings after 5 or so cleans. bought a new chain and went back to a soft toothbrush.

You used the terms "lube" and "o'ring" without mentioning GSXR riders. This has to be an advertisement.

Worst idea ever. You push dirt into chain with brush, then block it there spraying from such a close distance. This is tutorial how to make you chain last a lot less.

I dont see why some people have to clean it that much. Its gona get dirty again after 1 ride. My point is - clean it to the point where its "ok" and not try harder to make it looks new again then after a few kms it is back to being ugly. Its just a waste of time i think

Oh and don't turn on the motorcycle and let a cloth run along the chain (should be obvious). My teacher lost their pinky because of this

alright a better way to do this no hate btw is turn the bike on and put it on a stand then spin the back wheel and use chain lube or either things he uses and just hold the toothbrush on it while the chain keeps spinning or get a squirt gin and squirt it on then use a rag and wipe it all off while the chain is spinning then squirt it again ! and it’s clean and oiled up now

I cleaned the chain twice and emptied the bottle and realised wtf...this $hit is expensive. now I just pressure wash with water and lube it with engine oil once a month

The quality of your chain lube goes a long way. I like using a heavy dirt bike oil that leaves a good oil film. Something light will fling off at speed

Do not damage the O-rings, just buy a bottle of O-ring chain cleaner. It doesn't cost a fortune

Didn't mcm do a test and showed brake cleaner is a horrible idea? I've gotten brake clean on nitrile gloves and swelled gloves. His is one piece of advice that I recommend not listening too.
