In this seventh episode in our 'How to" series, with production week around the corner, Teacher Talitha shows us how to 'clean'/apply pancake/calamine lotion to dirty satin/canvas ballet shoes.
PLEASE NOTE THIS PROCESS IS NOT ADVISED FOR LEATHER SHOES, WHICH ARE NOT IDEAL FOR STAGE PERFORMANCES OR EXAMS.
For Leather Shoes this video:www.dailymotio... suggests using Liquid Foundation like we use Calamine/Pancake in our tutorial…
.
The Steps Include:
YOU WILL NEED:
Dirty Canvas/Satin Ballet Shoes
Aqua Pancake (with water)/ Calamine Lotion
A Small Sponge
Enough time (approx 3 hours sunshine) to allow for drying before you need to use the shoes
(Canvas shoes can be cleaned inside by hand-washing with sunlight soap and drying in direct sunlight- but this is not advised for leather shoes)
STEPS
1. Add wet pancake/calamine lotion to your sponge
2. Dab the sponge lightly on the shoes' outer surface entirely
3. Repeat on stubborn stains if necessary
4. Allow (at least 3 hours) to dry in direct sunlight
5. Wipe with slightly wet cloth, to remove residue if necessary
Although the soles will not be clean, the outer parts of the shoes will look light and even pink, which is sufficient for an exam or stage performance. Enjoy shining in your (almost) brand new shoes…
