In June? I ran 5x per week. 6, 7, 8, 9 km runs per week. Then July happened. 0 exercise. Now we're in August, I've started Sunday 5ks again. I always finish with push ups, too.

I fully agree with all of the tips that were in this video. When I came back from a long break from running, I assumed I could get straight back into running again! Gee wiz, I was so wrong! My times were slower, everything ached and I felt like I was at the beginner stage again! I eventually got my running and fitness back, but I wish I had this video back then! Well done on this video!

I can't agree more with this. Though, my "hurt" caused a couple years (and lbs) which I allowed to slip away, please don't let it go - it sucks getting it back. it took a summer highs and lows bringing it back and I don't wana go back to those days where it all slipped away. Struggle is real and you're not alone.

These are great tips for anyone who is “out of shape”... I am in great shape, but not in great “running shape”....I’ve just committed to become a runner again. First step is to build a good base...At 56, I need to be realistic and not over do it...I like being more objective in my training...So I use my heart rate...For example, in my workouts, for my walk breaks and speed work I like to use my heart rate as a gauge... One fartlek workout might be run at 5-6 min/mile pace until my heart rate reaches 165, then stop and walk until my heart rate falls to 130...As soon my HR falls to 130, I start another sprint... I do this kind of heart rate training to ensure I am being more objective and basing my training on my actual conditioning so that I do not overtrain... Keep up the great training videos!

Thank-you, Holly for all your tips and motivation! After a bunch of injuries in my 30's, I'm finally back to running again in my 40's! I'm so excited to be back in the running community! God bless you, Holly, and please keep up the motivational videos for people like me! Thanks again!

Thanks for this. I stopped running 10 years ago after my physio told me to hang up my running shoes following damage to the cartilage in both knees. I switched to road and mountain biking, but always wanted to return to my 'first love'. Well, I'm back, in my mid fifties, and 2 months into a 10k training programme. I am a long way off my old 6 minute mile pace, but that doesn't matter.... I am back 😁 and that smile couldn't be much bigger. Thank you to The Run Experience for providing some of the motivation to return!

After completing and recovering from 2 marathons in the past year, I was in the best running shape of my life. After being completely injury free for 18 months, I ended up dealing with 3 separate foot injuries over the past 4 months. For every issue that was related to form, mechanics, or muscular imbalance, I've put in the work to correct the issues. The last injury was from dropping a weight on my toe while working out at the gym. With all of this, I've missed a total 9 weeks of running over the past 4 months. I'm finally clear to run, but I'm thinking that I've probably lost a ton of aerobic stamina. Thanks for the information. I've watched it, but I'll watch it again just to make sure I'm not missing anything. :)

I really fucking needed this right now. Getting back into running after being out of the military for a few years and treating my body like shit. Got myself a Fitbit to stay accountable. Not going to go to hard the first few weeks. Going to take it one run at a time and slowly increase intensity.

Can you please give me your opinion on running vs jogging? I love running so much but some fellow runners say there's a difference between running and jogging! Some say, if you can't finish a 5k under 19:59, then you're jogging. The same with a 10k, if you can't do it under 49:59 you're jogging! Does speed and time dictate if you're a runner or a jogger? Personally, I run because I like it. I don't track my time or speed. I run for as long as I can and when I'm tired, I slow down and stop.
@tiocsti
4 жыл бұрын
I think making a distinction is sort of silly, but yes speed distinguishes running from jogging. However, the numbers you mentioned are not where the cutoff is. The cutoff for 5k would be 31:04 and 01:02:08 for the 10k (the cuttoff is 6mph/10:00 mile).

Big Will Don’t listen to the noise. Running vs Jogging is relative. For some folks doing a 5k in less than 19 mins is still jogging... To Them. It’s all about exertion, and that’s different for everyone. Just keep moving.

I have a question. How come more people are not talking about running while in ketosis? I have lost near 100 lbs and refuse to eat sugar and carbs anymore. In 10 weeks I can now run 6+ miles non stop without fatigue. I'd love to see ways to improve based on using ketones instead of carbs. If this has already been done, please show me where. Thanks for the great info it has pushed me to be the best I can be.
