Out of the box, the Tridium or Vykon JACE 8000 is not set up for rs485 serial communication on COM1 or COM2. FMS shows how to configure a JACE rs485 port.
Configuring a JACE 8000 RS485 port is pretty straightforward.
1. You need to have N4 WorkPlace opened and the station selected for the JACE you are working with.
2. Open your palette and select ModbusAsync from the options.
3. Drag the ModbusAsyncNetwork from the palette to your drivers. 4.
Update the name to reflect COM1.
5. Update the name to show the correct COM port. In this example, we are using COM1.
6. Set your communication parameters for the modbus-rtu slave devices connected to COM1.
7. Add a slave device to verify RS-485 serial communication.
8. Connect a salve device simulator to that com port to verify operation. (If you do not already have an actual device connected.
The products used for this configuration are a Tridium JACE 8000 and a Remote IO-R-16 module (14006).
