Some viewers have said they cannot hear themselves through headphones plugged into the Blue Yeti. I have tested the setup in this video again (Dec 2023) using my Samsung A53-5G phone and I can hear my voice on headphones connected to the Yeti while recording and playback from the phone. Therefore, the setup as shown in the video still works. An alternative method is to replace the original USB cable with a mini-USB to USB-C cable, which means you do not need the Syntech adapter and can connect the Yeti and phone directly. This solution also works for me. If you are still experiencing problems ensure you are using headphones with a TRS and no TRRS jack (TRS jacks have two thin white or black rings, TRRS jacks have three thin rings). I have also read online that some Blue Yeti users who have installed the Logitech Ghub software have inadvertently updated their Blue Yeti's firmware, resulting in some issues, including the headphone output not working. One Reddit thread suggests returning the Blue Yeti's CMEDIA AUDIO Chip to its factory state to rectify the problem. I have not tried doing this myself because I have not found it necessary. Another possible problem is that not all Android device manufacturers use the same components, which can lead to compatibility issues. Also, if you have an entry-level or older Android phone that does not support OTG, that could be your problem. Finally, if you are using a BLUE YETI NANO rather than a Blue Yeti, here is how to restore headphone monitoring from SirenSays888 on Reddit. Perform a long press of the pattern selection button (behind the mic). You can then choose the microphone monitoring state. I hope this helps. Good luck.

I have made a number of tests to get rid of the awful noise that the yeti provokes in my Galaxy A52S 5G and all of them without positive results. And the truth is that it is not the Yeti causing the noise, but the galaxy itself. I have tried a wide number of mics (USB and Jack 3.5 connectivity) with my galaxy, and all of them have the same noise. Then, after my 42nd test, I decided to test them all in my computer and no noise at all. Then I test all of them in my very old Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 and the sound was marvelous!!! Not even a single little sound. So that makes me believe that it is Samsung provoking this, or there is something very wrong with their phones. I want to keep on testing with mics connected through de 3.5 port, by purchasing a Samsung adapter (USB-C to 3 5), as a last try, but I guess the result will be the same. And all that is a shame because I wanted to purchase a Rode AI-Micro to use with the A52S in outdoor interviews, but I see I will have to do it with the Redmi. I hope this text was not to boring. Regards to all

Not as such. In theory it should be possible. At the heart of the problem you need a Y-splitter cable with two female 3.5mm jack inputs going to a male 3.5mm jack. The male jack would plug into a 3.5mm jack to USB-C adapter, that would go into the phone. You would then feed the headphone output from the two Yetis into the female ends of the Y-splitter adapter using a couple of aux audio cables with 3.5mm jacks at both ends.

Unfortunately, the Blue Yeti does not have a control to adjust the MIC/COMPUTER monitor mix. If you need that kind of feature you could get the Maono PD400X USB/XLR mic, which has a monitor mix control through the Maono-Link software, which is available for Android (I have reviewed the mic and software on this channel). You can get the mic from www.maono.com/ If you use the coupon code TOSHLUBEK you can get 10% off.

Your tutorial is awesome! I got the adaptor and went through this step by step. TWO questions: #1 My problem now is the sound quality when I record. I sound robotic and distant. I hear it clearly in the headphones. I have the yeti, mic muffler, and used the open camera app you mention. I did the steps for the audio you talk about too. I played with all the dials on the yeti. I feel Im missing something. Some kind of connection issue maybe in my Samsung S8?? #2 What case do you have or recommend for the S8 so you do not have to remove the case to use the usb adaptor? I've had the same case since I got it so I am not sure what to look for. Thanks so much!!

I've not used the HyperX mic but I don't see why it wouldn't work. I think it comes with a USB-A-type plug on the end of the cable. If that's the case, you can use the adapter. Alternatively, if you can replace the cable so it has a USB-C plug at the end you should be able to plug that directly into the phone. Good luck.

I've had that problem when experimenting with creating a wireless microphone using a lavalier mic and a pair of Bluetooth audio transceivers. Although it worked, there was a high-pitched tone throughout the recording. I was able to get rid of the tone using a notch filter in Adobe Audition, but didn't create a video of the experiment because I didn't think it was a simple enough solution for most viewers.

Does the Samsung A31 has enough power to run the Blue Yeti? How often do we need to recharge the Samsung phone?
@DIYVideoStudio
6 ай бұрын
I've not tried the A31 phone, but I believe it has a battery capacity of 5,000mAh, which is the same as on my A53-5G. I'm therefore guessing that the A31 should have enough power. Even if it doesn't you could use a portable USB hub that's powered from a power bank or wall adapter, and connect the Yeti and phone through that.

You can use free audio editing software like Audacity to remove noise. is there any way to connect 2 external mics (like 2 yetis) so that the phone is recording video and audio of to people on opposite sides of a table, each with their own mic, talking to one another?
@DIYVideoStudio
Жыл бұрын
Instead of using the normal USB output, you could take the headphone output from two Yetis. Feed this into a Y-splitter type cable with 3.5mm jacks. That would then connect to a 3.5mm jack to USB-C/Lightning adapter that would plug into the phone. As far as the video is concerned, if you are using an iPhone you can use "Doubletake by Filmic Pro" to record from the front and rear cameras simultaneously. This would allow the scenario you suggest of filming two people on opposite sides of a table. I hope this helps.
@bobsmith1520

@@DIYVideoStudio thx. That's a pity it's not working for you. I just tested my Yeti and Samsung S53 5G again, in case I made a mistake, but when I plugged my headphones into the Blue Yeti I could hear myself (albeit with a tiny robotic echo). If you are using a different Android phone that could account for the issue. Unfortunately, the various Android handset makers don't seem to implement Android exactly the same way, which can make some media apps work fine on one phone but not as well on another. BTW. Since making this video, I found that if you have a mini-USB to USB-C cable you can dispense with the Syntec adapter. If you have such a cable, try it to see if the Yeti's headphone socket activates.

I cant hear myself through the headphones when I am on my phone, but works through my computer. I'm not sure what's wrong

Sorry to hear that. I've doubled checked that it works on my A53 5G phone and it seems fine. This is a long shot, but I assume your headphones are plugged into the Yeti and not your phone?
