I've been watching this channel long enough that I've actually been using these techniques for years, and I can attest that they WORK! I have the best skin of my life (at 41!), and it's because I took Dr. Sam 's advice on board 😊

Love your 13 dot technique. I always think of you when I'm dotting lol. Sometimes I don't count and end up with 15 dots, but I don't think you would be cross about that 🤣. Now I have more dotting techniques to try! Thanks, Emma x

I have been using your 13 dot technique for some years now - ditto the sandwiching of moisturiser when using retinoid a few times a week. I also always use the moisturiser goggle technique but also add a layer of vaseline around eyes and mouth as an extra measure. I very much enjoyed this video - always happy to see your content but love it when you post a make up tutorial/favourites too. That's how I discovered the Surratt range and various other items. Please do more of those - I really enjoy the lightest of make up and your style is very much how I like to do my make up too.

It's quite strange - my undereye area handles retinol (or really most products) just fine, while the rest of my face tends to be sensitive to whatever I apply. I have a mild rosacea and actually I think my skin tone has improved a lot since starting retinol! My skin used to be red all the time, now it looks like I've always wanted it to. Couldn't be happier!

It is strange but I am exactly the same! It is like my skin responds exactly the opposite of what is expected. I have also started using glycolic acid & I have seen great results with that too.

For how long do you need to layer when first using a retinod,? at what point would one feel safe putting it directly onto the skin. I have been layering for 2 weeks now just starting at 67 lol as an abundance of caution and so far so good, I do not know the answer to my question.

I've been on 0.05% tretinoin since May, and have had lots of peeling, even while doing the sandwich method *and* only applying it twice a week. I've stopped it for this past week and my skin has calmed down considerably. Maybe I need a thicker moisturizer?

Hi Dr. Sam! The issue I'm experiencing when using the flawless nightly/brightly with the flawless moisturizer is that I'm constantly pilling no matter how much I wait in between the layers. It's not a big deal for the nightly since I'm only using them at night, but it's still a nuisance especially in the morning :( I hope I just got a bad batch or something.

I've been using the 13 dot technique, as well as the sandwich and goggle techniques when applying tretinoin. Do you have advice about moving away from the sandwich technique now that I've been using tretinoin for a year and a half? Would it work better?

This is such a great video! I have so many more questions (as I am 59 and using a LOT of actives). The biggest question is around L-Ascorbic Acid version of Vitamin C. Do I need to lower the PH of my skin before I apply? What other products will reduce it’s efficacy? Peptides (like argiriline and matrixyl ). Do you need to apply it first? Or do you have to check the PH of the other products you use before (like essences). I am trying to incorporate so many actives and most are single ingredient so I can add, change and remove as needed. NIOD dismutase saccharide, Urea essence, Vitamin C, Argiriline, Eye serum with peptides (NIOD) Niacinamide, spot salycilic acid, Azelaic acid, CoQ10, ceramide moisturizer and sunscreen; and in the evening, NIOD dismutase saccharide, Urea Essence, Retin A, Growth Factors, DNA repair, Matryxl, Hydroquinone alternate with alpha Arbutin, Eye serum with peptides, eye cream with retinoid, ceramide moisturizer. In the early evening I wash my face, add copper peptides (NIOD) and green tea essence and use my LED. I assume the time lag of an hour or so before my retinoid should be enough. I enjoy my skincare process, it is almost like meditation, and I believe I need these to address my aging skin issues, but I am not sure if I am getting the most out of each. I do a lot of reading and it depends on what and who you read what is allowed and what is not. All this is to say the layering skincare could be a series for many of us! Thank you for all your informative videos!

So, we use our 10 fingers to apply sunscreen. What was I thinking all this time while using just "TWO" finger tips. Somebody should remind that lady that our hands are not plastic, skin on our hands absorbs products too, you know
