Very thorough! Thanks for sharing (followed from RV Entrepreneur FB page). I didnt know you could make so much from renting your RV. Do your bookings typically slow down after Labor Day?
@TheAdventureTravelers

Yes, they do slow down, however we are still booked solid through November as of now. It's insane that we could pay off a $100k RV in two years of renting it and then it's ours free and clear.

Great tutorial thank you! I’m setting my profile up as I watch this video was quite helpful. But I’m wondering why you put things that are included with the rental in the add one section?
@TheAdventureTravelers
4 жыл бұрын
I include that information there because it could be overlooked in the other section. The best thing is, you can look at what I did and do it that way or modify what best suits you. The playbook is very open. I'm just giving suggestions. I'm sure you'll do great. The biggest lesson we learned is to start a conversation (either on the phone, via text or email) with the renter. Here is a copy of our first email: Your RV vacation is coming up quick! We're just sending a quick email to get to know you a little better. If you haven't had a chance, stop by our website and/or KZitem Channel to learn more about our RV and us. Watching them will help speed up the orientation/walkthrough and you can get to your vacation faster :-) How to Empty an RV Sewage Tank: kzitem.info/news/bejne/2Hp9uo5mipNzqWU How to Make the Dinette Bed in our Sunseeker: kzitem.info/news/bejne/0qutqYB4i4p9iaQ Quick RV Walkthrough: kzitem.info/news/bejne/mnqDrYFvoGqZa5g Also, a few other questions: (Answers and communication with us is mandatory or you could lose your reservation) Where will you be going and do you already have reservations? Have you ever driven an RV before? How many people are going? What are their ages? We are assuming you are bringing your own linens, since you did not purchase our Linen Package. Just a note, the master bed comes with linens. Don’t forget the towels as sometimes they get overlooked . Please let us know if you have any other questions. We are excited for you and want to thank you for renting our RV. Michael & Melissa

Hi, thanks for a very informative video. Does Outdoorsy provide insurance or is this cover under your own insurance?
@TheAdventureTravelers
4 жыл бұрын
With Outdoorsy, you are covered by their $1,000,000 policy. Each renter chooses their own RV insurance, but you are always covered by Outdoorsy's policy. We have used it a few times and never had a problem.

How do you manage pick up and drop off times? Outdoorsy told me as long as it happens that day it’s ok with them, but that’s a huge window for someone to show up whenever.
@TheAdventureTravelers
4 жыл бұрын
Kasey, We typically email our renters right away to establish a relationship. During this email we ask all sorts of questions like: Do you already have reservations where you are heading? Where are you going? How many people will be going with you? Etc. Then we send them links to our KZitem Channel that explains all about our RV, dumping, how to make the dinette bed, etc. By the time we meet them we have a great understanding of who they are and where/when they will be heading back. We establish a pick up time usually a few days out. Most people want to pick up the RV around 9AM, however due to work schedules, sometimes it's later. When we are doing the walkthrough/driving test, we usually ask them when they are looking to be back from their vacation. They understand that we have lives too. We typically meet around 2 to 4pm the day of the return. We are pretty flexible though. Hope that helped. :-)

Great thanks, but you didn't mention why you are not festival friendly ?
@TheAdventureTravelers
4 жыл бұрын
A lot of others are festival friendly on the RV rental platforms, we decided not to since sometimes people renting for festivals tend to drink and not treat the RV the way we want it treated. The few times that we had people take our RV to a festival without our knowledge, it came back damaged and we are still cleaning glitter to this day. 😂.

Outdoorsy won't let me join the GPS feature. Any idea why? Are they getting rid of it?
@TheAdventureTravelers
2 жыл бұрын
Actually, yes, I believe they are getting rid of it. If you have an iPhone, it’s probably just easier to get an AirTag or something like that. There are a lot of other devices out there that will allow you to track your RV. You can hide it anywhere or just put it on the key ring.
@TheAdventureTravelers

Also, I always let my RV renters know that they are being tracked. I’ve actually had to call a couple of renters that were going way over the speed limit in my RV. They don’t realize that it’s not a regular vehicle. You have to keep them in check.

@@TheAdventureTravelers good info! Have you done Airbnb with your RV at all?
@snoopyfix2

Awesome info. Thanks so much! Question: how are you able to charge such a high security deposit and nightly rate? We tried a $1000 deposit and we couldn't get any body to book it.
@TheAdventureTravelers
4 жыл бұрын
I guess it depends on location. I just heard of someone on the Outdoorsy Forum suggest charging a higher security deposit. He said he went from $1,000 to $2,000 and he couldn't be happier. Having a larger security deposit weeds out the younger renters and people that may not treat your rig as if it were their own. We have never had a problem. Ensure you have AMAZING pictures of your RV and really spend the time to write a good story on why people would want to rent yours over someone else's. Good luck!

@@new_technologies_store Good luck Travis. Remember that when you rent your RV, it's a business. Try to treat it like that. Don't give away a whole bunch of stuff and teach your renters as much as you can about the RV BEFORE they do the orientation. You'll be amazed at how fast their eyes glaze over when you're trying to give an orientation. :-)

I'm considering getting an RV and rent it when I'm not using it. I work in retail, so I have to work most holiday (high demand) weeks. We vacation during non-holiday times. With this in mind, can you do variable rates, i.e., charge more during higher demand periods?
@TheAdventureTravelers
4 жыл бұрын
Yes, of course you can change your rates whenever you want. We have the Burning Man out here and some renters rent their RV's for $6000 for one week. I personally don't but, yes, you can change the rate whenever you want. We will be booked most of this year. We are hoping to make more than $30,000 this year with one RV (motorhome).

Why is it some charge for insurance when its free to them
@TheAdventureTravelers
4 жыл бұрын
When we rent our RV out on platforms like Outdoorsy or RVshare, we use the insurances provided by them, since we know that they will cover any damages (up to $1,000,000). It's easier to go through them and everyone is covered. Hope this helps. Our RV insurance is just for when we are driving it.

@TheAdventureTravelers

Tippy, we have regular RV insurance when we are using our RV and when we rent through Outdoorsy or RVshare, we ensure that the renters use their (Outdoorsy or RVshare) insurance. We aren't insurance brokers, so it makes it way easier if the renters use the provided insurances through Outdoorsy or RVshare. Did that help?

I’m leaning toward sole proprietorship but notice it doesn’t afford personal asset protection like an LLC would. Is there another way to protect personal assets and still have the simplicity of a sole proprietorship?
