I use a rotozip with a tile bit then i use the oscillating tool with a wood bit works like a charm

thank you lol been looking for some tricks online dealing with my first old home and have gone threw 2 blades on only a few holes fortunately it was plaster board but knowing how to deal with lath is just as important

I use a multi tool with a carbide blade. Cuts through plaster and lathe like butter with less mess.

I have found the even with carbide I was going through blades every 4 boxes I cut in.

been there use the carbide to get through the plaster then use a different bit or tool for the wood maybe a rotozip for the wood

sometimes if the lathe is dry and brittle it works fine but hydrated lathe will smoke carbide blades out all day

@@Bradley-tx6ed Well, you cut the plaster only with carbide grit blade, then use plunge blade for the lathe...easy peasy

There must be different types of lath plaster I know my 1950s home has thick 1-1/2" depth wall of sand gritt wall then a plaster board behind that.
